What are your LEAST favorite morphs?

Everyone has their favorites, but you rarely hear people talking about their least favorite. For me, there are three:

Axanthic: I think they're okay, and have seen some nice ones that have very little brown, but they seem to get more brown the older they are.

Hypos: I know it's a favorite for a lot of people, but the "average" hypo just looks like a ball that's getting ready to shed. Doesn't do much for me. I do like many of the hypo crosses, though.

Spider: I love the top half of the snake, but the white blotchy scales on the bottom turn me off. If only they can find one in Africa that models the pinstripe, but with the spider pattern.

I'm not too sure if I have a least favorite. I like them all :D

Xdeus, I think I'm with you on the Axanthic....they're nothin special (by themselves) however, it is this trait when crossed with another, much prettier morph such as albino or pastel, that makes for a truly spectacular animal!! My absolute LEAST favorite is probably the hypermelanistic - as i prefer lighter colored balls....I have seen some hypers that were absolutely UGLY :PUKE: !!! I wouldn't pay a dollar for one of these!!

Hmm... I don't think you're being honest with yourself. You mean to tell me that if someone offered you a choice between a Blue Eyed Leucy or a Granite Ball, you wouldn't be able to make a decision? :)

I think Raj just means there's not a single morph he dislikes. But yeah...he seems to have taken the easy way out by not bothering to try and scale which morphs he likes the least of all those he loves. ( :neener: @ Raj)

As for me....I'm like Raj in that I like ALL of them and wouldn't turn down any bp that someone wanted to give me. LOL But that being said, I don't get particularly excited by axanthics, hypos, albinos, or most pastels all by themselves...but all of these can be important "ingredients" for some spectacular combinations.

Axanthics and albinos just don't do it for me. I was offered a 100% het male albino for $50 a few months ago and I turned it down. I see a rare example now and then that I think "if they ALL looked like that, maybe I can understand" but they are so few and far between. I know there's a market for them from a business perspective, but like Adam once advised me - get what you love. Since I don't LOVE albinos, I had to take a pass.

Axanthics I just don't "get". By themselves - I think they're pretty boring looking, I love color contrasts instead. I haven't really done much research to know what their potential is in other crosses though, so one day, maybe I'll need to re-consider.

i think il be the only one to say that i don tlike the piebald ball python...i personally just think there ugly...some specimens are ok but ,most i dislike, just my opinion......nothing wrong with you if yea have one just my prefernce :P

Have you ever seen an albino in person? Like held one, kinda let it sink in? I have yet to see a photo that truely does full justice to an albino ball python in person. I guess I just can't relate to your opinion because I like them so much, and thats totally cool because everyone's into different things.

Imma plead the fifth until I see more morphs in person. Shoot, I've only seen one (a pied at Prehistoric Pets) and I don't think it was a good example and/or the lighting was horrid.

When I saw this post, I thought of axantics too, but I also admit that my opinion might very well change should I get a chance to see one live. Really hard for me to say any ball is my "least" favorite because their faces are just so adorable...=)

Spiders, pastels, axanthics, lucys...they don't do much for me in comparison to plattys, pewters, pieds, high-contrast albinos...

While baby axanthics are quite lovely, adults are so blah.

Cinnamons look so ugly.. but super cinnys are sweet.

Hypermelanistic and granite look dirty and ugly too.

Calicos just look like they have health problems to me. :)

I know what you meant, lol. The Corn snake reference was to imply that I cannot makeup my mind. But alllllllrighttt, since you insist, I will have to go with Ribbon snakes :twisted: :D

I would have to say that my least favorites would have to be (and I'll jump on the bandwagon) axanthics, closely beat out by cinnamon pastels. Those morphs by themselves don't do anything for me...but I guess if someone wanted to give me one, I'd take it. :)

Granite or BEL?....ha ha.....which line of granite? which BEL?....ha...I would close my eyes and pick one ;)


...I did not really care for spiders until I saw them in person, now they are at the top of my to-get list.

...axanthics are all about quality. Now if you asked me my favorite between VPI axanthics or TSK axanthics....I would have a favorite ;)

...and my normals look nothing like hypos when they are about to shed...you guys must have some really nice normals ;)

Great, these comments reminded me of two other less-than-favorite morphs: The Calico and the Paradox Albino.

I've noticed that my tastes have changed quite a bit, and will probably do so in the future. I used to dislike the albino and Cinnamon pastel, but now I really like both of them.

Wow, I can't believe how much Axanthics are getting trashed! They're one of my favorite base morphs, and when combined with something else, can REALLY be stunning! I can't wait for the NERD Axanthic Pastel to grow up and see if it fades at all or if NERD's line is going to be superior to VPI's..

As far as a least favorite goes.... hmmm... there's not much to pick from....They're all on a wish list.... :) I guess I'll just jump on the paradox bandwagon. They're amazing animals... (not sure if anyone's proven them genetic yet) but they just LOOK weird... I would still own one though, if given the chance... but not high on my list.

Nope, I haven't seen one in person - and you're probably right. The only ones I've seen and held in person so far are pastel, piebald and clown.

The ones I do not own, of course!

I was the same way...not as thrilled with albinos until I saw them in person. I totally flipped once I got to see one up close. I'd put money on it that the same would do to you as well.

I've seen several different albinos in person...and they just don't make me go "wow" the way a number of other morphs do. But then again, I've never been a big fan of albinoism in any species...something about the red eyes that just makes them unattractive to me. But different people definitely have different tastes in the matter....which is one of the things that makes the BP-morph world so exciting.

I didn't have any enclosures to put it in either at the time. No heating supplies or thermostats ordered at the time. If I'd had the space, I might have considered it. But then again - it all went back to - I just wasn't as crazy about albinos as other morphs, and my gut didn't say "do it"! LOL

Hehe....yeah, those caramels...MMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmyummy! And pieds were my "first love" in BP morphs and still right at the top of my list of favorites.....but I guess that's off-topic for this thread, huh? LOL

I think it's really hard to say definitely which we like and don't like until being able to see them in person - and then several different animals of the same morph. Their colors are difficult to capture, perhaps.

I used to not like albinos either until I saw some Steve Gooch photos of some gorgeous high-contrast albinos on his own and Bob Clark's websites that knocked my socks off...

Y'all are nuts for not liking albinos....its sorta like loving rock n roll but hating the rolling stones.........albino is what started it all! c'mon!

I don't care for faded albinos. Breeders are probably working toward building high contrast albinos, though so you don't see them as often.

Oddly enough, I don't like the wannabe spider. A spider that faded and light in color with speckles just doesn't do it for me. (I have seen them in person, at Tinley). I'm not a big fan of how the Killer Bee looks as an adult either.

I don't like calico or granite at all.

For a long time the axanthic was my favorite morph. I don't think I've ever seen adult axanthics in person though.

yes! faded albinos tunr me off, to me it just looks like a very sick albino:( but I still love every snake and would happily accept one if I was offered.

I can't speak for everyone else who has mentioned albinos...but I never said I didn't like them....just that I don't get excited about them like I do some other morphs.

Clown WTF is it I cant even tell. And all those different white ones that are not leucys like those ivories and snows UGLY. And the patternless blacks are gross

although clowns are not my fav. you have to see them in person. i have a better appreciation after seeing them in person. also anything that combos with a clown is insane lookin!

i'm with you on the ivories, it looks like someone let their lucy crawl through the trash. lol i still would like to have one though!

Wow, guys. I simply looove clowns. The unique head pattern, and just prettiness all around.

Snows are icky though.. but I like the yellow stripe down the back of the ivories.

Paradox is my least favorite.

pinstripes dont make the cut for me. prehaps if i could find a few crosses with a morph i might change my mind. *shrugs*. they just seem boring to me.

I think pinstripes are very cool. The black part is so evenly reduced, it looks like pixel art on a snake. lol

My least favorite is the (Derma) Looks like its decaying..

I would agree with that on the derma, but I kinda don't consider that a morph....(it's just me).

The derma from what I know is not a morph, because it hasn't been a proven genetic trait thus far. Personally I think the morph looks creepy, and agree that it looks like it is decaying but I'm sure there are people out there waiting for it to be proven out so they can snatch one up.

I would say my least favs are granites. I think they look like normals to me. There is probably more but i dont remember. I LOVE ALBINOS ANY KIND OF WAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
