    Malachi in shed
Just had to take a picture of the little fella in shed. This is Malachi our 100% het for albino who is just coming up on 8 months of age. Weighed empty tonight at 410 grams so we are just thrilled with his progress with us. He was produced by Adam at 8BallPythons and is just a wonderful young male with a stupendous feeding response.

Here's Mal in blue tonight. I'm sure he'll feel much better in a few days.

I'll have to remember to take a freshly shed pic of him in a few days when he's all done.

Awww! Isn't amazing how drastically they change from shed to after shed? It's almost like opening a present to see what they look like after the shed!

LOL funny you should say bold Jason. This male is bold as brass as my granny would have said. Everything Thursday morning I do my rounds and make sure everyone is set for feeding night (promptly at 9 p.m. Thursday evenings LOL). After that they have no human contact (just our feeding day routine).

Every Thursday morning there is bold little Malachi our smallest ball python either coiled on top of one of his hides or out in the open in full strike position....and the little boogerhead takes a swing at me, sometimes two or three credible attempts!

Every dang Thursday morning...it's "morning Malachi...dang it you impatient little snake!" Ya think I'd learn! LOL

I love this little male. Adam told me when we picked him he had a very aggressive feeding response and boy he was right. Mal eats two fat rat pups every Thursday w/o fail so he's not that hungry...he just wants his dinner and he wants it NOW! LOL

Funny enough he never bites though, just strikes at us and he's totally calm any other day and easy to handle. A bit of hissing here and there when we remove him from his tub but that's just his grumbly way. Feeding day however is all about business with this male snake.

What a cutie...before and after pics of the same snake might be a great addition to the FAQs here on shedding. =)

Jo,I love your enthusiasm for such a little stinker of a snake, I'm the same way with critters though, the fiestier they are the more I like them. Isn't amazing how such a small animal can stand up to us (but we all know its only a show :) )...must be little man syndrome. LOL

Today (my normal feeding day for the older two) Shogun was out and waiting for me to bring his food. Normally he's calm enough for me to take him out and put him in his feeding tub, but not today, he must've smelled the rats coming because I walked near the cage and he was ready to strike...the rat literally didn't even get a chance to touch the floor of the cage. :chew:

    Gotta love em'!

    Re: Malachi in shed
Maybe I'm just wierd Jason but even when we were going through the early days with big Brannagh, where she was actively trying to bite us and almost unhandable....I just loved that snake and her damn you attitude! LOL Don't get me wrong here, I don't like or want to take a bite....but I just accept it as part of normal snake behaviour occasionally. It's also a thrilling challenge to find the unique way to get a snake past it's aggression with us. I've always loved rehabbing creatures.....my first dog has been abused and eventually shot by her previous human (barely human to be honest)...I got her when I was 9 so maybe it's just ingrained in me somewhat.

With Mal it's not aggression or a poor past life (Adam raises beautiful babies), it's just his strong feeding response. For me I don't even count his strikes as anything more than a typical "gimme rat!" attitude and hey I'll take that any day of the week LOL.

Okay I'll try. You know of course that even though Malachi has never missed a Thursday, in shed or not, that just because I want pictures this particular Thursday...he'll turn his nose up at his plump rat pups. LOL

Well as requested here's the post-shed pics (put the one in blue in here too for comparison). Malachi presented us with a nice complete shed and a big defecation this morning. Oh and he weighed 420 grams empty tonight.

He's so handsome! Sullivan should be presenting me with a shed tomorrow. He presented me with some nice urine and urates today when I tried out my new probes on him today "just to be sure" he was really a boy - more like wishing away his "boy-ness"! LOL He's still a boy! LOL

Robin you are so going to give Sully a complex! Here he is being a studly snake and you keeping seeing if he's really a male.....poor poor fella you better ship him to me! LMAO (male or female that snake of yours is a stunner Robin!)

Thanks for the compliments about our Malachi. We have always been impressed with him but it seems he's just getting better and better as time goes by. With his good growth rate we are very confident he'll be going on his first "date" this coming fall.

I believe when I mentioned this to young Malachi he gave me the immature male "girls have cooties!!!....and by the way WHERE'S MY RAT PUP!" look LOL

By this fall I'm sure Malachi will quite happily discover females!

Ha ha! I peeked in on him last night before I went to bed and he presented me with a sock shed! Of the three new ones, two have had sock sheds and one had to be assisted with a soak. I'll have to snap some new pictures of him when I get home this afternoon.

But, Malachi is really a hottie! I love the one little dot on his back! Godiva said she especially likes his blushing, Auntie Jo, and wants to know if it's would be in bad taste to go on a date with her "cousin" - even if he is just a "play" cousin! ;) ;)
