completely obsessed with my BP!!! is it normal?

well, since i've always wanned a snake when i was alittle boy but couldn't cuz my mom wouldn't let me , i've become completely thinking about my BP.

lol, my wife is getting kinda jealous here. i noticed that i talk alot about snakes at work, i even had a dream of having another snake!! but my wife kicked my *** for it!!.. whenever i get home before i eat lunch i get to work on my new setup. i check on her twice a day!! and when i hold her so gently , my wife would be like "as if she understands how you feel!!" .. "women!!!"

anyways, am i turning into a snake freak? lol. what do you think.. maybe i should hide my feelings alittle bit.

I know EXACTLY how you feel, because my boyfriend treats me the same way......."do you take pictures of anything other than snakes?....... do you talk about anything else?....can you wear other rings besides your snake ones?............why do we have to go to the reptile show...??? ......why did you bring a snake with you?.." , not to mention people at work as well as the neighborhood kids call me "The Snake Lady", and my friends who still work at the pet store are always calling me with questions about snakes because I'm more knowledgeable than ANYONE that works there.

hehehe, i've been called the snake guy,or even "bo lahsa" which means the father of lahsa. heheh, u sure do seem to have alot of knowledge with all this collection :)

You're certainly not alone. At work my boss calls me 'parselmouth' (from Harry Potter.. it's a person who talks to snakes) and the people who work in the reptile section at work (petsmart) come and ask me questions all the time. I'm sitting in an 80 degree room with 23 snakes right now.. my computer wallpaper is a pic of my blood python.. and I'm wearing a snake ring too. I think I'm pretty far gone.. :P

already have the "i speak parseltogue" t-shirt, along with many other Slytherin house t-shirts purchased at Hottopic, along with my vast collection of snake jewelry, snake statues/figurines, plush snakes, and any other snake collectibles and memorabilia that has struck my fancy over the years....already went over the edge.....

I'm not THAT bad, but whenever I come home from a long day at class all I want to do is sit around and hang out with the little guy ^__^ I baby talk to him all the time, and my friends have complained that I "gush over him". And my favorite day of the week....FEEDING DAY! =P Caring about your animals is never an obsession, no matter what kind of critter it is! ^__^

Yep. I've got a 4' plush snake wrapped around the foot of my bed, and hog island boa sheds wrapped around the head of the bed.. there's boa sheds around my curtain rods, and anaconda sheds wrapped around the outside of my lampshade..

I think people like us speak a different language than "other" people.......heh heh

who knows where the "you know you are a herp when . .. ." thread is at? I looked every where for it, this would be good reading for this guy, as yes I believe snakes can become obsessive, heck Its the 1st thing besides my car that I have spent $$$ on in 7 years!

I'm so bad it's literally very very hard for me to hand Gomez over to someone else. Even Karen! He's hard to let go of, I love him so much. When a friend came over and gave him a cuddle I had a hand on him the whole time :rolleyes: I need therapy. Even aside from that, all the Medusa stuff, pictures, jewlery, dozens of photos of my boys... I need more snakey shirts tho... The parseltogue thing is too cute!

Aye, I thought the parseltongue shirt was funny. I'll have to keep my eyes open for one.

I was thinking of getting shirts made up with the following slogans. I'm probably not brave enough to wear one, mostly because the hillbillies I run with would never think such a shirt was odd enough to question.

i live with two roommates that give me crap everytime i come skipping out of my room to proudly gush that he ate, shed...etc or the fact when i leave to go visit my family i call my roommate to check up on my snake *cough* everyday... and i'll only be gone for two days...:omg:

I began collecting herps close to 30 years ago, and I'm just as passionate about them today as I was then, maybe even more.
I am a recognized expert in the town where I live, people come to me for advice on thier herps and I catch nuisence snakes for people when asked. Pet shops and even the local vets seek my knowledge on these animals because they know that no one is more passionate about these animals than I am.

I nearly lost my life to an Eastern Diamondback in '91. Even when I was sure I was going to die, I never got mad or bitter at the animal that bit me, nor did I allow it to be killed. Someone has to stand up for these wonderful but highly mis-understood animals. After you watch some ignorant idiot kill a harmless Black Racer thinking it was a Cottonmouth, your obsession will be what drives you to educate people and defend these creatures.

Glad I read this thread! I had just surrendered to the fact I was nuts!
I to have a friend come in daily and check my baby even if I am only gone for the weekend.
And don't even be around me when I go on vacation. I call my friend and check temps, where in the cage Ozzy was etc. like twice a day.
When ever I visit family I always bring up my boy and I always get the uh-huh looks.

i really respect that about you. :) well, its like when people ask me , is there a possibility that it bites? im like yeah!!, hell. even if you hold a chick or a small bird in your hand and harm it . it will eventually bite you, parrots/cats/dogs! whatever.

the only animals i kill in my house are roaches!!.. that is only if they were in my house!!

about teaching people. im doing the best i can, and im sure everyone is definately doing his best to clear the misunderstanding of those people. but you know, some people just dont want to understand. they would be like "man!! its CALLED A SNAKE!!" ...

Okay I feel so at home now. I am obcessed. All I talk about is Raymond and when I'm not talking about him I'm spending every minute wondering what he might need ( a misting, mouse, pat on the head lol). Not to mention that I cant go through a day without snapping pictures of him*sigh* oh well..guess all of us on the forum will be in the same mentle hospital when we are older.

Hey Cass I wasn't feeling well awhile back....a couple of the ladies on this forum I call my friends (and you know who you are Becky and Christie! :P ) suggested that Mike might want to push my humidity up a bit!!! Rotten snake lovin folks LOL!

Oh and don't even get me started on the Evil Lizard Ladies! They tempt a weak person like me with many many pictures of cute big eyed lizards licking their eyeballs and flashing amazing colors and peeking out of vines at me! Crested, Leopard, Bearded.....the pics keep coming!

These people aren't just addicted and obsessed they are also enablers! ;)
