    about getting blood balls
I was recently checking out blood balls on a site...cool snake...not that i am interested in producing hybrids or anything (not my cup of tea), but I was just curious as how you get a blood and a ball to copulate.......I asked a friend of mine who's bred everything (including venomous) you can imagine........BUT balls. He suggested that they might have been using the old "bait and switch" method. Don't the two species just "know", though...???

LOL...no...not me. I see no point in mucking up perfectly good blood pythons! ;) This is one hybrid that absolutely does not do it for me.

Hey, I'm not interested at all in producing hybrids, in fact I don't even own a blood, I was just wonderin' how they got it done.....

I do prefer bloods, but I think the hybrid is interesting and pretty. Most hybrids do nothing for me.. carpondros are pretty nice though.

i think hybrids are pretty cool. my favorite would have to be the Angolan x Ball hybrid.

April, do you have a link to a carpondro? i've never heard of them.

Marshall.. here's one for sale on fauna. I couldn't find a page on them.

Obviously it's a carpet python x green tree python.

From my understanding they took sperm from the male ball python and inseminated it into the female blood python. This also made the offspring sterile.Like i said this is what i was told.

Uh, no. That's not how it happened. Enough shenaningans can be pulled between the 2 species w/o resorting to AI techniques.

I've never heard of any snake being bred by AI.

There has been one specie of snake successfully bred by AI, I read it in a recent issue of REPTILES...I'll have to go look for it!

Someone told you a tall tale. Give Roussis a call, I'm sure he wouldn't mind setting the record straight. ;)

Happens all the time in this hobby/business. Too many myths, rumors, and agendas floating around out there. That's why I like to go straight to the source. ;)
