    possible combinations to snow morph?
hey guys I needed a few ideas on how to get a snow by breeding different morphs. Can any1 name some combinations to getting a snow ball python?

axanthic x albino = double hets

    raise/breed double hets = 1 in 16 odds of producing a snow.

Yup...what Vaughn said. It's the only way I know of to make a Snow BP.

I found to normals (both female) that are double het for snow, if I bred them with a normal male what are some of the balls I could expect to see?

a normal bred to a DH Snow would give you normal appearing 50% DH snow babies.

If you are going to spend the money on a female DH Snow, why not pick up a male DH snow too?

Make sure you are getting them from a reliable source. DH VPI snows generally cost around $9000-10000 per pair. Female around $7000. Males around $2500-3000. DH Joliff snow pairs can usually be bought for under $5000 but produce a lower quality snow IMO.

Here is a great link for double het genetics:

get the DHSN pair and try your luck. Worse case is that you don't get the snow, but the positive is everything else is a morph... Axanthic, Albinos, DHSN, etc....

Seems like a good deal.. Gotta love double hets....:D

All that genetics stuff is all to confusing to me. I understand some of it but most of it goes in 1 ear and out the other.

If you plan on picking up some DH snows, I would try to figure out a little of the genetics. It is not that hard to understand for basic recessive and codom/dom traits, but when you start mixing things it can get complicated.

Here is a site that has great visuals:

Scroll to the bottom where it says click for illustration.

Try something like dom's/co-dom's if you're not comfortable with the recessive stuff for the moment. Consider it a stepping stone if you will. :twocents:

Actually, breeding a DH for snow pair together will still yield normals in the clutch as well. And POSS DH's.. But yes, you could wind up with albinos, axanthics, albinos het for axanthic, axanthic het for albino, double hets, and normals.
