info on selling and shipping snakes to other people
i have 3 bp's that i want to sell and have a coulple people interested. I also want to purchase a morph, possibly from someone just looking to sell(not a breeder) i've never sold or shipped a snake before and dont want to get ripped off. Fedex is really the only ones that you can ship reptiles thru. Here is a link to someone who is going thru fedex to be able to ship reptiles http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=28253. As far as trusting someone check on www.faunaclassifieds.com BOI section for any feedback good or bad.Do not fall for someone over seas trying to sell you a snake especially from nigeria:mad: .They will and have allready ripped off alot of people.Good luck

Well i guess you got two answers at the same time:D
Re: info on selling and shipping snakes to other people
You take a risk dealing with people you don't know. That's just a basic fact. I don't know if there is a way to minimize it. Research on the BOI and getting as much information seem like basics.

In addition to that, I also try to ask others that I know and trust if they've ever heard of the person and their reputation (oh - I guess that's part of research, huh? LOL)
Re: info on selling and shipping snakes to other people
i know u were looking at pieds but if u do decided to go for another slightly less distictive morph make sure that its really a morph annd not
1 a doctored picture
2 a regular BP with a particular coloring

Just out of curiousity, why do you not want to buy from a breeder?

Why wouldn't you want to? Breeders are going to have positively healthy animals that they can give you blood lineage papers, feeding schedules, shedding schedules, growth, etc... From a breeder you know you're getting an animal that was well cared for, instead of joe schmo who did "insert deity" knows what with the animal. Yes you may pay a bit more, but in the long run it's definitely worth the extra bucks.

I guess its the thrifty shopper in me, why would i want to pay $6000 for a pied when i know damn well that i can find one out there somewhere for $2000, i can't help but try to find a deal. I know that reputable dealers have better quality and is safer to deal with but $4000 is alot of money. Hey jball.... do you know of any breeders here in minnesota?? I've been looking all over and would like to find someone local to possibly buy my morph or het. thanks

Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but I've not seen a pied for $2000 anywhere. Just remember - you get what you pay for. If there's a pied selling for $2000 and the market is $4000, I would have to question WHY this person is selling it for 50% less than market when they could just as easily get twice as much. Is it sick, a poor feeder, a poor breeder? Do you have the experience to identify potential problems?
