Congrats diamond on the great shed! Glad the forum and it's members were of help to you getting the husbandry/handling issues all sorted out.

You're right about avoiding too much handling during the day other than basic husbandry as being nocturnal they are likely in the hide snoozing during the daytime hours. Handling after a shed won't harm your snake as far as I know, though if it skipped a meal during the shed cycle it may be raring to eat and be a little testy with you LOL.

Care to share some of the things that helped along with a one piece shed?

i'd probably say humidity and water. when i used to have my common egg eater "i gave it to someone else" :) when i see her eyes are blue. i would take her out and spray her with warm water. "just to get her skin wet" not to mention its humid already in the cage right now :) i think that helps with one piece shed.

my BP haven't shed yet. it just been one week since i 1st got it. so its still so early.
i wonder if they become snappy before shedding? kinda worried. i remember when my 1st snake got her eyes blue i was like "oh no!! she's blind! she's gonna die!! WHY!?!?!" :) after little reading. found out its normal.

anyways. congrats on the shed. hopefully u'll have more successful sheddings :D

The most important thing is humidity. Maintain a 50-60% humidity, and then when you notice the pink belly or blue eyes you can up it to 70%. Offering humid hides will help too. But sometimes, even while doing this you may come up with a bad shed. It's not big deal, and sometimes just happens. :D

Those are both obvious answers. What I meant to ask was how did you bump humidity and keep it up? What did you use for humid hides? Ex. upside down tupperware container with access hole and damp moss inside? How often did you mist Etc.?

When I notice blue eyes, I put some damp moss in their hides. (which is already a sandwich like tupperware container with a hole melted in it by a soldering iron) Mine are in a rack, so I just tape up a few of the holes. When I used a tank, you just kinda had to figure what worked for your setup. Misting with a spray bottle twice a day worked, but I just love those humid hides. I usually misted the side, because damp bedding made me nervous.
