    Poll- favorite pattern/color
I was just wondering what everyone likes. Assuming the NORMAL pattern/color of each snake, which snake do you like the most? You do not have to own the snake to vote for it.Wait a minute while I make the poll. Sorry if your snake isn't in there. You may discuss your favorite though. my vote is included in the poll. click on title to vote for those who are new here. thanks everyone !

He said NORMAL, Daniel. This may just be in the wrong forum. I think he means between different species.

    Done. :P

Let's see now.. this is a tough one but I'd have to say surinam red tail boa.. it's not a BCI, but I'll put that on there anyway.

Bloods are a VERY close second.. ask me tomorrow and I may say blood instead. lol

As far as snakes not on there.. top picks are bitis gabonica and bitis nasicornis (gaboon viper and rhinoceros viper respectively) and bothrops alternatus.. I could go on.. easily.

Afrocks are cool. Their pattern seems to have a shadow in it.

    Re: Poll- favorite pattern/color
yeah, i like that. i have seen just about every snake but an afrock here in central NJ. I have never seen one in real life, not even at a zoo. are they rare everywhere? i might get one when i am older, but i wish they weren't as big.

    Re: Poll- favorite pattern/color
They're not nearly as common in the pet trade as burms partly because afrocks are known for their attitudes. They are not expensive, but they are far from a beginner's snake.

I know Smulkin here has one (I want pics!)

i see burms here all the time, but never an afrock. are they usually wild-caught and that's why they are aggressive?

    Re: Poll- favorite pattern/color
No they're normally CBB. There are even a couple of morphs. They can be tamed, but they are giant snakes that are often more aggressive than burms (please note I have no personal experience with afrocks so this is just what I have gathered)

Not I. You could ask Smulkin. He has one.

I know only a little about them, and none of it is from personal experience, so I'm not the one to ask. I'll just tell you they're a snake to take very seriously.. you should have several years of snake experience (including with more docile large boids) before even considering one.

    Got it!

had I caught it here I would have fielded it the same lol. I am getting horrid interweb this evening as one of the kids has a bunch of friends over and they all have their computers choking up our connection playing BF2 or something.

On AfRocks (pardon the genralizations) - definitely not a good first giant constrictor as would be say burm. They do have a gorgeous pattern though! Neph is in the 8-9 foot range now. She eats very regularly but seems to have a much slower growth rate than I'd expect. She's not aggressive per se but she's become unexpectedly nervous on several occasions (she takes swings at the doglets any time she sees em but they are small white and fluffy and she can't be faulted for that :P). The only time I can remember that I'd call aggressive was one day last summer I took the tub outside to transfer her and clean - a very hot bright day - my looming shadow (hey I like to think of myself as looming, dig?) crossed over her and she was up and after me just like that. Normally all of this happens inside, normally she is in her mondo lidded hide I just lift out with her in it. She likes to hang out in our tub and swim so I make that available as often as I can, usually while she's swimming she'll p00p. After 20 minutes in the water she's downright calm.

As I mentioned in another thread we may or may not hit the slopes on Sunday. If we stay home I intend to take her out for a swim while I clean her tub (keeps her egular hehe). I'll snag some shot sshould that be the case and see if I have any not too old ones on my hard drive here in a second.
