5 weeks in the life of a rescue!!!
Hi there I took in a royal on the 3rd of january this year with rather nasty thermal burns and the start of necrotic dermatitus, I was very worried so started by cleaning the open wounds with hibiscrub and saline, and I put her in a small tub slightly warmer than normal, with paper as a substrate and a ceramic hide and a small water bowl just big enough for her head to get in and drink nothing more. I started by cleaning her 3 times daily till her first shed then after that i did twice a day and she ate an XL defrost mouse, and she just shed last night so there are some stage photography!

    Thanks for looking

Wow Peter that's a definite improvement!

How was this poor snake so badly hurt? Heat rock? Dirty/wet substrate? What a mess that belly was but coming along with your great care.

The BCI we rescued had a thermal belly burn from exposure to a huge heat rock plus wet bedding but no where near that advanced thank goodness.

Can't wait for more pics as this poor creature regains it's health.

I just want to say that you are a truly good person to take responsibility of an animal in that shape and try to bring it back...good for you!:number1:

Wow. Those are really hard pictures to look at. But the dramatic improvement makes it all worth it. It's amazing what some consistent, determined tender-loving-care can do for an animal. And it's obvious this animal is getting the best of that!

Sure is good to see signs of a "happy ending" after viewing the terrible wounds that poor thing had to endure!

cheers! I am just glad to have helped, I rescue 20-30 animals a year which I usually re-habilitate and then rehome, but I am keeping more and more LOL!!

As hard as those pictures are to look at I think they need to be saved as reference to how bad a belly can get and how much can be done to rehabilitate even a snake in that state.

Wow, those were some bad burns, I wouldn't have even thought that snake was alive when they were taken, so do you know how it happend? Must have been an ignorant and irresponsible owner, thank goodness the bp happend to get to your hands.

That's awesome man, I don't know if I would have been very confident taking on a rescue like that.

(/In my Best Peter Griffin voice) You know what really grinds my gears? People who let their pets conditions deteriorate to that point.

Bless you! You've done a great job so far taking care of that BP, keep it up and I'm sure it'll be in tip top shape before no time.
