What Size

At what size/age do most beardeds switch from heavily eating crickets to vegatables.

One of mine did not stop till he was almost a year old and he no longer gets crickets cause of the risk, se he was switched to worms, and the other has never had crickets, she has been raised using silk worms and other worms. But is still eating them like they are going out of style.

So can they be raised on worms like meal and phoenix with crickets.

Not sure about phx. worms, as I dont know anything about them.

But they can be given super worms and meal worms if they have molted, and silk worms at any time. However, it means keeping lots and lots of them worms around to be sure you have enough molted ones to feed off, silkies dont molt like that cause they dont have the hard outer shell, but they are mightly expensive. Plus, my dragons get chicken or turkey baby food to suppliment thier diets for thier animal proteins... the youngest, I raised on baby food till she was big enough to take the worms, as she came from a cruddy breeder not really eating well at all, and scared to death of any crickets near her.

I raised my female on baby food. So I dont see why not. The only thing I can think of that might be a downer, would be that your dragon does not like baby food and wont eat it. Mine, she is use to it.

Using baby food for me was not much of a choice, it was either that, or let her starve, as she was not a great eater and really should not have been sold like that. I have heard of others raising thier dragons on baby food without any issues like myself.

Sweet, I have been looking for a cleaner alternative for cricks.

Since yours have already been on crix, I would actually "wean" them off the crix once you are sure they are eating the baby food well enough to take crix away. Just taking the crix away could cause a problem, causing weight loss and such if they dont take to the baby food.

So even with adult dragons you have feed molted meal worms?

I only feed molted worms..period..no matter what type..cept for wax and silk worms. I am not taking any chances of impaction and etc....

Jeanne is right on here. Silkworms and Superwors are always best ..Mealies are worse that crickets when it comes to impaction risk as they have a very high Chiton Shell to meat ratio. and as far as the greens go...it really depends on the Beardie, sometimes it takes them a few years and sometimes they just naturally start loving greens off the bat at a young age. let them decide when its time for heavy greens. The superworms have very little chiton and its safe to feed them to beardies over 6 months or 15 inches and after a fresh molting you can feed them as young as 4 months at the earliest but it would be safer to stick with silk worms or wax worms. untill 6 months.
