The only thing I've ever heard of a bp being "mixed" with is an Angolan Python (I think I got that name right) and that is very rare. It's highly unlikely that you have a cross. It looks like a lovely, normal bp. However, they do sometimes come with unique "personalities" in that some are more active than others or more scaredy-cat or more fiesty, etc.

It would be good to describe the weird behavior to help rule out anything symptomatic of illness or injury or husbandry that isn't quite right.

EDIT: By the way....sweet looking burm, Sean! Is that yours?

The ball hybrids don't stop there .... 2006 should be interesting if you're into that stuff. ;)

Blood-balls? For real? I hadn't heard of that at all. Personally, I'm not into hybrids at all. But I don't have a moral argument against it like I've seen in some very heated debates on the issue.

Not my cup of tea either but they are inarguably very striking looking.

Google image search ought to bring something up on that front.

Smulkin, you're repeating yourself. Better get that checked! :eyepoppin :P

Those are freaky looking snakes. Just don't seem natural at all! (But then again, blue-eyed lucies aren't exactly found in nature either...but they don't make my heart feel odd when I look at pictures.)

well for one when she goes into strike mode she stays like that most of the time.but anyways she dont like to be looked at,or touched eather.when we had her out of cage siiting on floor with her our small dog (manchester)entered the room and magnum stood straight up the full lenghth of her body just like a king cobra does.it was weird!!!is this normal?and dosnt have anything at all to do with our other balls.i dont know she is just hard to descibe..lol

Re: ball python versus burmise python
It sounds like she is highly stressed out. You may want to consider giving her some quiet time. Two tightly fitting hides, and little to no handling until you've got several meals in her, and she seems to settle down a bit. Since you've only had it for a day, it really needs time to settle in and learn your routine. You're a big giant monster to the poor thing. Give her some time. :D

I don't meen to hijack, but those hybreds have some pretty coloration and paterns on them to me. If they are a timid and good personalities like ball pythons those would be nice to have a few of those. Thanks for sharing! Diamond I hope everything goes fine with your new baby.

Re: ball python versus burmise python
Okay you got this snake on the 1st and it's going into a defensive strike position and freaks when your dog came near it, somehow this led you to believe it wasn't a ball python?

I don't mean to be rude here but you have other ball pythons. You've been around this forum for awhile...had access to all our threads and the caresheet so what did you actually expect a snake that is known to be a shy, secretive creature to do?

If you want to overhandle a new snake, have a dog approach it (which in the snake's limited mind means predator) and do whatever you wish to the poor thing....then you'll pretty much get what you are getting. A highly defensive, stressed, scared snake and that's just not fair to the snake in my opinion.
