If the snake is valuable, or you get a great deal, why not ship it? They may/maynot search your bags before boarding the plane, maybe you could try sneaking him into something like a cereal box or a chocolate box?

When I checked out the show rules, here is what they had to say about it....

    http://www.reptilebreedersexpo.com
    9) If you choose to take reptiles to your hotel, please do so discreetly. Use boxes that are not clear. Many hotels have rules against animals in rooms. If you are discreet and put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door, you should not have a problem.

As for the plane, I'm in agreement about shipping. With security as tight as it is, you don't want to have to abandon an animal at the airport, or call the airline you plan on using. (although I think most have a no snake policy)

If you have any intention of purchasing animals I would plan on bringing rubbermaids, flexwatt, and a thermostat. Those kind of details you will probably have to work out with the vendor, but you'll have to transport them either way so why not have everything ready to go. :D

Okay so when they are in the car then what do i do? also how do I go about the tubs and flexwatt thing in a hotel? like how would I set it up?

    Re: Snakes in a hotel??????
If it were me, I'd bring an extra suitcase full of the stuff. That way no one needs to know what you are bringing in or out of the hotel. As for the car, I have a lovely little adapter for the cigarette lighter. You plug it in, and then it's like a regular plug. I use that when I'm transporting to the vet, to keep them toasty warm. Originally I got it to plug in the kid's tv, on long trips. ;)

I'd have the tubs all nice and toasty (setup beforehand), that way when you come back you're ready to rock and roll. :D

ie. Set everything up in the hotel before you head down to the show.

Book a hotel ASAP. No sense in waiting, if you are sure you are going. Here's the link to the site.

Thanks Eugene for the correction. I told you I'm not good at technical stuff!! LOL. But I was kinda close, sorta. :giggle: But hey I know where to check the oil and the windshield wiper fluid and I feel like a blasted mechanic!! I'm really pretty sad.

I was on a business trip in FL when I decided I had to have ralf, my bp and the hotel part was cool, just didn't let any body see it and informed the front desk for the maid not to trip as it was secured, but for traveling I put him in one of those small plastic vented rodent carriers that pet stores have, then I tape those pouched hand warmers that your shake to activate to the side and bottom, but they only stay hot for a few hours.

4theSNAKElady, I'm sorry perhaps I'm misunderstanding the meaning of this post. You aren't seriously suggesting to Andre that he stuff a living creature into some sort of box and try to sneak it on a plane are you? Other than the very obvious physical risk to the snake, the risk to Andre by encouraging him to basically smuggle a snake onboard a plane either on his person or in his luggage is absolutely not a reasonable nor viable option!

LOL Daniel! You know if you were my hubby and did that, I'd just have to "accidentally" forget you were sleeping it off in the bathtub and flip on the shower first thing in the morning (icey cold of course).

Did someone say TURKEY? .... SOLD! ... Bring the tissues brother ... we'll laugh, we'll cry, we'll offend, we'll break stuff, we'll get thrown out, and then we'll start REALLY throwing them back.

I'm probably going to go ahead and book a room at LaQuinta (about six miles away - the one that's closer is twice as much per night). LaQuinta allows pets, and we're probably bringing our dog since we hate boarding her - plus it's an added expense that I could use on buying snakes instead, so I'm not as concerned about "sneaking in" a ball python if needed. However, I'll probably still be discreet.

I was actually thinking about this too. Would one of those long lasting heat pads work for a temporary solution (the ones that are included in shipping in cooler weather)?

And no, I don't have approval for the time off yet, but I'm going to reserve the room. I just have to give 24 hour cancellation notice.

It would probably take an act of congress or a miracle from on high for Mike and I to make it to Daytona this year but we'll be thinking about you all there having a blast.

We're hoping to meet some of you great people at Chicago this fall though. :)

i hope you do get to come robin. :) i'm not sure about the heat pad because i'm just not familiar with exactly what they are, but you could always just pick up some 40 hour heat packs: http://superiorenterprise.com/catalo...roducts_id=229.

I have an idea for you....i use it to transport my snakes all the time. Get a plastic "tool/craft box" with a handle, (colored not clear) drill some small holes in it, add a thick layer of bedding and a small water dish, and get some of those instant heat packs or an icy hot pack to provide heat for the journey. I used this method when i took a young BP with me on vacation, and it worked great.
