poll- opinion on strengh
In this poll, I would like if everyone vote from their experience/opinion. It is just for curiosity. YOUR NAME WILL NOT APPEAR NEXT TO YOUR CHOICE. Thanks to all who have voted!

sorry, I was creating it while the post came up. its there now

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
See it now - I'm not qualified to answer, as I only own a ball! I can't compare it to others. Sorry!

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
Have you ever held another snake and maybe got an idea of its strength in comparison to your ball?

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
In my experience I will say BCC/BCI. While some snakes may have more muscle mass (blood python) the red tails really seem to use it more. lol they are more apt to climb and have tremendous strength that they use while climbing over you.
To mention a snake not on the list, dumerils boas are SUPER strong. My 3.5' male made my fingers turn purple and left scale marks on me while he held on to my hand and looked around the room.

Is the Dumerils boa part of BCI/BCC ? just wondering

Not since I've really gotten into herps. And since then, balls have been the only thing I've asked to hold, nothing else has captivated me as much as a ball! :D

No BCI/BCC are south american boas. Dumerils boas are one of the relatively few old world boas. They come from Madagascar. The scientific name is Acrantophis Dumerili. They have a close relative the Madagascar ground boa (acrantophis madagascariensis)

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
My vote wasn't on the poll, but I work at a herp shop, and no other boa wrecks shop on rats like ARGENTINE BOAs do. They get freakin huge too....
-
Re: poll- opinion on strengh
I would have to say the Boa constrictor. They use alot of their muscle when holding onto you.

the argentine boa constrictor is a subspecies of Boa Constrictor right? if so you can vote under that

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
I've held a BCC/BCI and my ball doesn't even come close to that strength...it was very impressive =)
-
Re: poll- opinion on strengh
Argentine boas are BCO (boa constrictor occidentalis)

Re: poll- opinion on strengh

I didn't see that. Moved to general herp forum.
I have held lots of burms. They are kind of like limp noodles most of the time. They may be very strong, but heck they don't use it much.. not like boas do.
-
Re: poll- opinion on strengh
I've handled most of them, and I must say that Boa's defenitely tend to grasp on to you tighter than most. But this is all useless opinion without any research :evileye:

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
I have no hands on experience with bloods but if I were to guess I think they would be the strongest at 5foot..a boa may use its strength more at 5feet but I think if there was a test with all these snakes squizing as hard as they can a 5foot blood would beat the other 5footers

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
It's possible. They do have the most muscle mass of the bunch. Boas are just rock hard when they hold on to something.
-
Re: poll- opinion on strengh
I do not see a "Water Boa" in the list ;)
-
Re: poll- opinion on strengh
lol.. I'm not sure that pound for pound anacondas are any stronger than a garden variety boa constrictor. I've noticed more strength with my dumerils than the anacondas.. so far anyway. :)

Just gotta keep in mind the dumerils could be given ya all they got where the anaconda isent lol

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
Yeah well like I said before.. burms like to act like limp noodles.. but they really aren't. You can't make a snake use all it's strength, so I just voted on which snake 'acts' the strongest.

Limp noodles LOL :D I've always found the thought of their size scarey though they always look quite sweet the ones I've met. I guess they tend to be real softies then? I'm interested because my daughter has always said she's going to get one when she's got a place of her own.

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
Yeah most burms are like puppies. Not all though.. when they want to be nasty, they can be REAL nasty.
-
Re: poll- opinion on strengh
I voted Rock, But now that i think of it,
If the snakes are at five feet, most of the above giants would still be babies.
So I would like to change my vote to a blood, as pound for pound at five feet I would think their muscle mass would be the strongest.
Thanks
Rusty

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
I switched your vote for ya! :D
-
Re: poll- opinion on strengh
i voted afrock... strongest feeling snake i've ever held. it kinda scared me a little when it started putting the squeeze on my arm - at that was just the tail end!

Re: poll- opinion on strengh
Papuan pythons. Hands down, pound-for-pound the strongest constrictors I've ever dealt with.
But since they're not on the list...retics.
:D
