Just thought you guys might have something to say on this one...

Some zoo. Geez.. hope the hamster doesn't decide to chew on the snake.
Re: Just thought you guys might have something to say on this one...
LOL ...I think it's pretty funny. Since it's been in there since October and the hamster hasn't nibbled on the snake yet, I doubt it will. I imagine so long as both keep getting fed, they'll continue to tolerate each other's presence...but I'm guessing one day the keepers will wake up and find the cage is short one hamster and the snake has suddenly gained a huge pot-belly!

Heh that is pretty crazy, since october is a pretty long time though. Myabe they love eachother lol

:) Folks. It's obvious! It's a Rat Snake not a Hampster Snake.
(Side bet on the Snake though).:D
It's my first post after peeking in for that last month or so. Hey folks. You have a great forum going here and I hope to be able to contribute as much if not more than me asking questions.
Tony...

yeah, I heard a story about a snake and a mouse becoming "best friends"...more along the lines of the snake is a bit of a picky eater =P It always cracks me up when people try to assign human traits to animals like that, especially an animal like a snake that pretty much instinct and that's it....But yeah, it's cute (while it lasts ;) )

Hey this thread reminds me of the time I saw a program on Animal Planet. It was where this female Lion and an antelope of somekind had this mom and baby thing going on for a while. Anyone see that one?
Re: Just thought you guys might have something to say on this one...
i personally think that keeping the two together is irresponsible and extremely risky. i mean, would you leave a live rat in with your ball python (or other snake), unsupervised, for more than the 15 minutes or so that you wait for it to be eaten? sure it sounds cute and all, but come on, it's really rather...stupid. :hmm:

I doubt the zoo would seperate them. Something like that could draw crowds and generate revenue
Re: Just thought you guys might have something to say on this one...
yeah, and that's really pretty sad. nevermind what's best for the animal if it makes money. :(

They have stuff similar to that on Animal Planet ALL the time...it's suppose to be....like.....heartwarming or something. I kind of think they miss the point, but I'm a very cynical person =P
I agree with the comments about this being a bit irresponsible...really, why risk it (other than increased patronage of course)? It's not "cute" when one of the animals gets hurt/eaten....
