Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
I bought Q and Shogun in October 2005 from a local breeder that was cutting down his collection. Both snakes are two years old, and both a bit over 4'. Shogun (male) is a bit bigger yet than Q (female) but I'm currently working on getting her weight up for this season.
Shogun is a huge showoff and loves his photo ops, won't ever stay still...
Q goes into the perfect ball pose, and normall she has her tail placment in the perfect Q...hence the name.
Decided to take some pics to make their debut, so here they are:
Here's Q-

Re: Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
Hope you all enjoy the pictures, I'm pretty new to capturing snakes on camera so it was pretty fun playing with the backdrop and spot lighting to capture the snakes' true colors. I actually realized that I retained information from my college photography class. :)
Thanks for looking

Very nice photography! Wish I'd taken a class or two myself other than the one I routinely skipped out on in high school LOL.
Keep em coming!

Re: Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
The pictures look awesome! I have realized that besides investing in quality animals for my future breeding projects, that I'll also need to invest in a good camera. I'm using a Canon A70 Sure Shot right now, and I can't get nice looking pictures for the life of me. Lost the manual (well, I have the Spanish version LOL) and so I can't read to find out how to properly use the macro feature. Your pictures look great and it just goes to show how important having a good camera is going to be!
I agree with Jo, keep 'em coming!
Re: Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
Thank you both for the comments!
I'm not sure if my digi camera is what you would call good..LOL Hopefully in the future I will be upgrading from my Kodak DX to a SLR digital camera with a few different lenses, that way I can start some 'real' photography. :) Luckily for the manual mode on my camera that I actually captured some decent pics.
Again thanks.

Nice snakes you have there! Do you plan on breeding them in the future?
Re: Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
How cool! I have a bird named Q, but for much geekier reasons. :P

Sure do! Q has a little weight to put on, so right now she's pounding medium rats about every 6-7 days :) and putting on weight after every feeding, so she should be good to go in not too long from now.

LOL
Right now I'm looking at rack systems to expand my collection from just these two. My first morph will be a pastel male or female...soon enough ;) .
Re: Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
Here's a few updated pictures of Shogun from approx 3 days ago post shed, he's put on a bit of weight since I got him, now he's up to ~850 grams on empty.

LOVE the contrast on that first pic especially! :)
Re: Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
Thanks Medusa!
I had really bright overhead lighting with the flash so it made his colors really pop, plus it helped that he just had finished shedding not too long before so he was really light and bright anyways, that's about the best picture I've taken to capture his true colours.
I initially took that photo so I could use it to measure how long he is for my records, but I don't know what program that it is to use.

My male pastel is named Q for those same reasons, I bet :P
Re: Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
nice healthy looking snakes!
you don't have to have a fancy cam to take good pics. any 3meg or higher will do fine. a plain tripod(20-30$) and a coupe of bright lights will work wonders! if your lights are harsh or bright try using a white sheet to diffuse or shine through.

Thanks for the photography tips, Vaughn! Jballpython, Sho is a handsome fella! It appears he just "might" be your favorite! ;)

Thanks kavmon. My camera is decent, I just want an SLR digi so I can play with macro modes, and different zoom lenses for not only capturing herps on film, but also pics of my reef tank, and other projects.

Thanks! He's as mellow as a puppy dog, even when he's in shed I can clean the cage without worry. Q on the other hand gets a bit ornery if I mess with her hide for cleaning. So yes I like to handle Sho a bit more, plus he's so photogenic.:P

If "Oh, very clever, Worf. Eat any good books lately?" means anything to you, then that's very possible. ;)
Re: Pictures of Sho and Q: Dial-up Warning
This is the link to the program that you may be talking about where you measure the snake from a direct overhead picture (with a known length object in the photo to compare to). I usually take three seperate photo's and then use the average of them as you can different lengths depending on slight camera angles.
