Pics of LaVey
Here's my new male. I posted about him in the General forum but this is more of a pic related post :) Here ya go.
He is in a bit of a rough shape. His topline scales are somewhat bent, like he got stuck in something (a cage decoration item, maybe?) and squeezed through. But no external parasites :)

Re: Pics of LaVey
thanks! He has some really nice blushing; it would be more noticible if those scales on top weren't bent up like they are. Hopefully when he sheds it will look better.

Re: Pics of LaVey
I just wanted to let everyone know that La ate his first rat in my care! I am happy, share my joy :)

Oh he's a gorgeous male Gin! Wonder what caused those scales to do that? It's not a scar is it? Congrats on the feeding! Gotta love a ball with a great feeding response.

Very beautiful little boy! I love his name too, why does LaVey sound familiar?

Re: Pics of LaVey
Did you name him after Anton LaVey?

Re: Pics of LaVey
Yeah I did Erik, lol. I know, I am corny.
I hope this isn't scarring; I guess I won't know until this boy sheds. It really doesn't look like retained shed; it is kinda one scale at a time, having a folded appearance. I wanted to look at it further but this guy is still a little stressed and I am letting him calm down after just eating.
He is in a little more rough shape too; his belly has some places in the scales, where it almost looks like something is stuck under the belly scales; could this be a sign of thermal burns? His belly is pinkish but he is definately not going to shed due to his clear eyes. It almost looks like a few of his belly scales are singed at the edges..? Nothing too graphic, but I will try to get a pic.
Gotta love those morons who neglect their snakes, don't ya?

Re: Pics of LaVey
I wouldn't say corny. Somewhat obscure, maybe, but then who am I to say. I mulled over naming mine Crowley instead of Monty.
Regardless, He is a beatiful animal, and I hope the scale thing is nothing serious. I know his fortunes are improving since he now has an owner who cares.
Are you planning on getting him to the vet to get his belly checked?

Re: Pics of LaVey
I was just looking at his belly, and it really isnt as bad as i thought. the pinkishness seems to be fading away. It was actually something stuck under his belly scale; like a dark shred of some kinda bedding (cypress maybe?)

Re: Pics of LaVey
He may be getting ready for a shed. The pink belly comes a few days before the eyes cloud over.

Re: Pics of LaVey
Oh wow Jen I love his pattern and colors! Hope he makes a good breeder for you if thats what you intend.

Re: Pics of LaVey
Just wanted to update this thread; LaVey has gone into a shed mode. That explains his pinky belly! I was just thrown off cuz his eyes were not clouded yet... and you'd think I wuold have known better! Hopefully those folded scales disappear with the shed; I upped his humidity majorly.

I know this was a while ago, but always worth celebrating! Yay! My baby bp just ate her first sm hopper last night - my fiance and I were (and still are) proud as punch. :D
Hope the shed cleared those icky scales. =)
