i went back to paper towels with all my animals again....to much of a pain taking them out to feed etc....now they can eat in there tank and i do not have to worry....plus my bp does not like to be handled prior to feeding....

it's easier to clean too...and I just spray it once a day and humidity is fine....

First time I used Cypress mulch. This time around I'm trying out aspen. I think I like it better because I can see fecal matter better and also I think it brightens up the cage and makes it look nicer. The Cypress was better for humidity but it's not that much of a pain to maintain using aspen.

I use the Reptibark from ZooMed because it is the only thing that keeps my humidity up in dry AZ.

I love shredded-fine aspen. it kinda fits together and makes a "mat" for your cage. I had only used it for a few weeks when I noticed my snakes had mites (see thread in General forum.) Once I eradicate the mites (well I already did, but I am using newspaper for awhile to be sure) I plan on going back to it.

Hi folks i'm new here and live in England (across the Atlantic) just to say i use Aspen to, it's great for soaking up urine etc.. and makes your snake look good as a background to.

    Hi Ginevive,

Where do you think the mites came from? Did the snakes already have them, or do you think it was transmitted though the substrate?:O
