Normal pos clown? That pattern is so neat. If normal I'd definitely guess that the het would prove out with that funky pattern.

Yes yes, but, what do you think she is?
I don't guess at IDs these days, but, the pattern looks very specific to me...even moreso if you told me she is a +Het Clown.

I'm still new to the world of BPs and know pretty much nothing about morphs or patterns.
I mean I can look at them and see they are obviously different from each other, but as far as knowing what they are/aren't, I'm clueless.

If you don't plan on breeding her-it doesn't really matter. :)

But, if curiosity gets the better of you, you could have her tested: https://raregeneticsinc.com/testing/.

I'm confused. The website says they test for clown. Isn't that what we're talking about?

Nah, I think there is another gene in there at low expression. I think Het Clown is a pretty safe bet, but, no one has commented about the other one. :)

what do you think she is?
and I don't see myself ever breeding her.

So, you don't think the 30 Morph Panel Test would identify the other morph(s) at work?

As I said before: It really doesn't matter, and I don't do IDs because people get very passionate in the forums. I'm just surprised no one said anything. :)

Yes, you are correct. The panel completely misses testing for this gene, and I'm pretty surprised as it is becoming much more common. I had to check all the lists like 5 times-to make sure.

can you send me the ID through PM?
because now you have me curious.

I'm not saying anything. :)
If I was going to sell that snake I probably would have marked it as only a 66% Het Clown as well to avoid confusion.

That's good, since that sort of guessing leads to a fair number of mislabeled animals (of other species; I couldn't say how bad this is in ball pythons specifically) on the market. Even a "looks like a..." hypothesis can easily turn into "some knowledgable sounding breeder told me it is a ....". Given that the odds of any given ball python not finding its way back into the market at some point are slim, that label can stick.
Unless a person is willing to test breed it to confirm, it is probably best not to know.

I'm that guy that just doesn't know.
pretty sure Ragnar (my other BP) is just a "normal". and I knew Freyja was different than him, but without the label from the breeder, would have never known what.
and other than general curiosity, don't really need to know either.

Freyja finally ate!!
breeder said she was already on F/T.
first 2 attempted feedings she acted scared of it.
3rd one she acted somewhat interested, but never ate it.
today i was getting frozens from Ragnar and talking to my supplier.
he spotted me a love fuzzy to try.
She attacked and swallowed that one!
soni may have to work on swapping her to F/T.

got a pretty cool shot of her while feeding today
(By the way, I'm really loving my rat breeder these days. let him know the snakes' weights when ordering and he chooses the rats for them specifically)

and just so Ragnar doesn't feel left out, got a good one of him too

There's nothing like the personal touch.
