Great shot, especially with the webbing framing her! My mother would freak, she's terribly arachniphobic, lol.

From all the pics on this site, I'm get better about not getting goosebumps everytime I pull up one of these threads. I love the pics, but I'm praying my son never wants one! :please: That sure looks like one ticked off spider!

Haha she was. I finally managed to get better pics of her fangs. These are one agressive species though, Pterinochilus murinus.

hahaha i was thinking the same thing! my hubby really wants a spider but i'm not sure which type to get him. something which could be held if he wants to is essential of course... and something which makes a cool web would be great...

    any suggestions?

edited to add: oops forgot to mention how GREAT those photos are!!! wow, you are a great photographer!

    Thanks for the comments.........

I just seen your question about good suggestions for beginner T's.....I'd have to recommend Brachypelma smithi, or Brachypelma emilia. Depends on which you'd like but B. smithi and B. emilia are pretty colorful and very docile and will tolerate handling if you'd wish to.

    Re: My OBT-
Heres some sites where you can find some info on them. Most all of my T's come from Swifts inverts, so I'd have to recommend them lol.

    www.swiftinverts.com
    www.krazy8sinvertebrates.com
    www.botarby8s.com
    www.petbugs.com
    www.tarantulas.com

Good luck ;)...T's make very awesome pets, and are pretty low maintanence animals.

    Ohhh Andrew, awesome pics!

But I got to say, spiders still give me the creeps, but I still look at them in pics and even at the pet shops from time to time.... I am OK as long as they are not out of thier cages... when I worked at a pet shop a few years ago, I HATED having to ge the spiders out to box them up for customers to take home... and I NEVER took the things out for customers to just handle.... I just cant deal with spiders. I have a terrible fear of them.

My daughter asked me this weekend if she could buy one and bring it home and promised it would stay in her room... well, needless to say, I had to draw a line and tell her in no uncertain terms no way- no how will there be "pet" spiders in my house. Even Bri has a thing against them. Ohhh, I am getting the creeps just thinking about one of those being in my house... :bleh:

giggling... jeanne we promised our daughter there would be no snakes and no spiders in our home as long as she lived here, as she's terrified as well. well, we purchased dexter a week before she moved out and waited for her to go before we brought him into the house LOL so now... we will get a spider as well... my hubby is facinated by them. ;) i think their molts are sooooooooooo cool. i have one (from when i worked at the pet store) in a little container in my room.

thanks for the links andrew!!! i feel another obsession starting.... quick get me some tongs!

    Re: My OBT-
see, but that's why i have snakes, lizards, soon spiders etc. i was terrified of them and wanted to not only overcome my fear, but also enlighten children so they won't be afraid as well.

so come on over for coffee (it's organic and wooooonderful!) and we'll love dexter together and then stare at the spider bin from the other side of the room together :)

    andrew,

a few questions... what do you feed spiders? i'm guessing insects or pinkies?

and do you know of any canadian sites... cause i'd rather order from closer if possible and border crossing is a pain in the butt.

    Re: My OBT-
Alright I give slings (spiderlings) pinhead crickets and small crickets....aprropriately sized insects. Adults I give roaches, superworms, butterworms, etc. Its kind of frowned upon by most to give Tarantulas vertebrates as it causes a mess, can cause bacterial problems and some other unnamed reasons. I havent looked into this further but I can do a little research and help you out ;)
