The Mighty Zeus and his blankey....
Just snapped these pics, thought they were aweful cute. Zeus has had his own blanket since being here, he loves the thing, drags it all over like PigPen on Charlie Brown. In fact, he is so bad about dragging it around, it must be washed at minimum 2 times a week. He is a HUGE baby, he weighs in now at 78 lbs. at 7 months! He loves to cuddle with me and often tries crawling into bed with me and the hubby, even though he has his own bed. Its kinda funny to see such a HUGE dog dragging his blanket with him all over, he even tries to take it out in the yard with him just to go to the bathroom. This dog has turned out to be such a wonderful companion and so smart and eager to please me. He does well with the whole family, much prefers me over anyone else, but he will go hang out with Bri when he wants.

    What a beautiful shepherd.

I have found GSDs to be huge babies. Most of them that come to the groom shop are terrified. They yelp when we cut their nails and hate getting wet. Silly guys. :)

Hehehe- Zeus hates baths, it takes me and Bri to bath him, luckily we dont have to often and he has gotten better about it. He will let me cut his nails, heck, he will let me do anything to him... but I am actually afraid to take him to a groomer or somewhere like that cause he really is not the best with strangers, even though he has been socialized alot since we brought him home......

This dog is sooo vocal too, he grunts and groans and whines like a little baby alot. When I get the brush out for him every night to brush him, he sees it and lays on the floor at my feet waiting on me.. and while being brushed he lays there and makes all kinds of funny noises and gives a chester cheeta grin... he has gained the nick name around here of "cheesy roo".. cheesy cause of his cheesy smile we get alot of the time and roo for how he sounds when he is howling/singing to us and at the end he says "roo rooo roo".

What a sweet dog. I wish more people would brush their dogs every day, let me tell you!

I use to groom for a living, and I always said that too! Makes it so much easier on them and you!

I just love brushing him out anyway cause it is so stress relieving to just sit on the floor and brush him, then get to love on him after.

Yep I agree.. it's relaxing and satisfying to groom a dog that's in good shape.

What isn't fun is trying to get mats out of a shih tzu that hasn't been groomed in a year. People think groomers are magic or something.

Surprisingly, he has not chewed his blanket up, in fact, he has never chewed anything he is not suppose to (knocks on wood).... but he sure goes through them HUGE 3 foot chew bones like mad... this boy goes through 2-3 a week by himself.

Ah.. be glad. My dog used to take my shoes out in the yard (we nearly an acre) and lose them for me. My mom's cocker likes to steal my underwear and eat them. Retarded animals..

Just catching up on all the threads and had to pop into this one!

What a gorgeous boy he is Jeanne! Growing so fast too but such a big sweetie with his blankie LOL. Amazing how some of the bigger breeders are such softie's isn't it. Even though I do like some of the smaller breeds, I'd still go with a well socialized, well trained larger breed dog anyday as a family pet. They just seem so much more relaxed around children, at least in my experience.

Our GSD's were always big "talkers". One of them used to adore howling along with the wolves on any wildlife show on TV LOL. Nice though that they don't tend to be yappy, ours just said something when something needed said LOL.

Lovely boy Jeanne, congrats on him.

Beautiful dog! I know about the security blanket thing too. My parents' last Doberman carried one around with her her entire life. She used to chew them up though, so after about 2 or 3 washings, it would get retired and she would get a replacement.:)

I've grown up with GS's and they are by far one of the most "talkative" breeds of dogs out there. I had one that would just constantly whine if he wasn't givin enough attention... but to him enough had to be 24/7. such softies though. Protective of their families most of the time, but they're total babies.
