It's interesting to me that he's basking in shed. My Children's python never basks in shed. He goes into hiding. Doesn't even poke his head out when I'm changing the water.

Right?? I found it very interesting, especially because his heat currently is a heat mat, the light he's basking under is UVB. (As an adult he'll get an RHP in his enclosure)

I wanna say it's because they're active during the brightest part of the day in the wild, and he's comfortable enough in his enclosure that he knows it's safe to bask, even while in that vulnerable state. He knows where his hides are and he even went back in one when lights went off. :) (sorry for the double reply, I just thought of this. Lol)

He's looking great. As for handling, I'm sure it helps tremendously to start with hatchlings. :D

I agree! Captive bred animals handled since early days for sure acclimate to it better :)
