Enclosure check
Hello [emoji177] it is Sunday which means mouse day for Gumi (I named him this when I thought he was a female but I found impossible to call him anything else hehe). I fed him a tad earlier today because he kept trying to get out of the cage to get to the mouse so he is eating rn, which means yay! But also, I can finally move him to the bigger enclosure after so many weeks of stress and activity.
Before I do that I wanted to make sure the enclosure is OK so I figured I would ask for advice here.
I really dont mind if I have to add or take away stuff, so please give me your honest opinions [emoji4]

That orange thing was supposed to be the hide but he seems so attached to his current one that I’ll go get another identical instead.

Re: Enclosure check
Please describe how you set up your heating elements. There are none visible in the picture. Also, your cork sides don't seem to fit very well. Your bp will squeeze behind them if he can.

That is because they are not on yet, I have a pro heat mat on a plexiglass top and since it’s heavy I have to put it out while I put all the stuff, I also have an UTH if the pro heat is not enough.
The cork is pasted with aquarium silicone but I needed to cut one side short for the top to fit.
I just wanted to put everything in before I turned on the heat since I needed to air out the silicone and the top makes maneuvering harder.
Should I wait until everything is set up to take pictures?

No. Nothing wrong with getting feedback on your furnishings. It looks nice to me.

Thank you, I did mean to ask where should I put the probe of the thermostat when using the radiant heat panel. The instructions said i couldnt put anything directly under for 6 inches

I use a 80 watt VE RHP and I suspended it 2-3 inches below the panel in accordance with the instructions.

Re: Enclosure check
Hello 💕 it’s been a while, IRL got in the way. Now that things calmed down I figured it was about time for an update. I tried to upload a video but it was too big, after that picture I put on the top and filled the remaining spaces and warmed it up for about a week to ensure the temps would be good before putting him in. It’s been about a month since and he said thank you with the biggest poop I’ve had from him right against the wall and visible for once, playing poop hunter makes me anxious.
He still has not refused a single meal and he is on F/T now 💕💕 his meals are also slightly bigger now but I don’t want to go too fast, after meals he does appear to come back for more so after I call the vet I may come with another post regarding his meals.
Anyway, darling Gumi is doing well pooping regularly and being adorable overall, switching between his cool and warm hides and even basking at times. He has yet to shed but his spine isn’t as prominent anymore so I’m happy going at his pace.https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...2b2b57a26.jpeg

His hot side ranges between 88-90, ambient temp is usually around 85 and his cool side ranges from 75-80, more often than not its closer to 80.
I try to keep humidity around 65% but without the fogger it gets a little hard so sometimes it goes down to 50 while I’m asleep, I purchased an automatic mister recently so hopefully that one works out, I will update once it arrives and it’s up and running. i don’t mind misting myself I just get scared it could ever get too dry for him.
His pro heat mat is connected to a BN link thermostat and during this time I have not had the need to use additional heating.
I made him a humid hide out of the old hide he came with but he has not used it yet.
2 accurite thermometers are inside the enclosure and I also have a hygrometer to read the humidity more accurately, it was meant to be connected to the fogger but rn I’m just using it as an additional measuring tool.
I think those are all the relevant updates I have, he has been an absolute darling so luckily I haven’t had any struggles 💕

Re: Enclosure check
I really hope so! I thought he wouldnt use everything I put in there but he does💕
I do need to get better at handling him though, I try to only do it when he seems interested but he is so perfectly content just being inside that I’m lacking in that area

Re: Enclosure check
Oh, I forgot. i have an Elekcity lasergrip 630 IR to ensure all the temperature ranges are correct, I do not merely rely on the accurites
