Mainland vs. Dwarf Burm Size Comparison
i’m still trying to figure out how i can make this fair given that my dwarf cross female i have is 3 months old and the mainland i have is 1 year old already however in the mean time i thought i would introduce the contenders and get the thread started:
team mainland: “Elvira” - 2021 caramel-wild type, 100M/0D, locality unknown, estimated to be 4.5-5.5 feet:

team dwarf: “Mulan” - 2022 albino-wild type, 75M/25D, locality unknown, estimated 2.5-3.0 feet:

I’ll get more precise measurements when they have their next shed

Put me on team Elvira. I love burms when they are this size.

I love how you qualified that. They're great-looking snakes, no argument there.

forgot this - parent genetics:
Elvira: 10 ft sire, 12 ft dame
Mulan: 7 ft sire, 9 ft dame

Which of Mulan's parents was the dwarf? If it's the dame, doesn't that mean that the offspring will be smaller than if the sire was the dwarf?

the dwarf DNA came from the mum, she was an 11 year old 50% dwarf - the sire was a 4 year old pure mainland burm - if i’m not mistaken i think you could right about that but i would have to maybe double check - my prediction is that she will be somewhere in the range between the 2, probably 9 feet like her mum but 10 foot max
same thing with the mainland, i think she will be within the range of her parents, probably 12 feet
so in total, 3 foot reduction with 25% DNA but we’ll see!

You can get precise measurements from a shed? How? Doesn't the shed stretch when it comes off?

the key word there would be “more” as in more precise than just eyeballing them lol which is what produced the measurement ranges in the OP - specifically what i plan to do is to measure non-stretched and then measure it stretch and then consider the difference to be the range of their sizes
-
Both are very beautiful snakes, but I definitely prefer Elvira's coloration. She looks like a giraffe's neck, haha.

You could consider using this tool to measure them: http://serpwidgets.com/main/measure.

and now for the males:
Team Mainland: ”Ash (Williams)” P. bivittatus, mainland Burm, 100M/0D, captive male, Granite, estimated size 4 feet, 2021:

Team Dwarf: ”Mushu” P. bivittatus/progschai, 2022, cross dwarf Burm, 75M/25D, captive male, Hypo, estimated size 2.5-3 feet:

Re: Mainland vs. Dwarf Burm Size Comparison
My vote is for Ash. That pattern and color combo is incredible. But Mushu's arrowhead head stamp gave him some tough competition in my book.

they both have interesting genetics - i’m just learning about all this but Mushu is hypo het granite and Ash is visual granite het GC caramel het Ultramel - am really excited to see how all this will come together in pairings as far as size tho, i tots think Ash will smoke Mushu lol i am hoping to eventually produce some granite caramels - i think that would be super cute

The pattern is called “reticulated” apparently as seen in Giraffes and Reticulated Pythons etc
reticulated
/rɪˈtɪkjʊleɪtɪd/
adjective
constructed, arranged, or marked like a net or network.
"a finely reticulated pattern"
.. “having a pattern of interlacing lines forming a net or web.”

do you have a link on this? or perhaps a burm pattern guide? originally just assumed her pattern was normal and it was just her coloration was abnormal because of the albinism

I think the "reticulated" pattern is normal for a reticulated python.
