    new snake!!
Picked up Ivan from jtman last Friday, and he is just beautiful. 100% het albino and just 4 months old. I had forgotten they start out this small. Too cute. Hopefully I will catch up with household stuff and post some pics soon. Thanks again Jared for selling him to me, I will take good care of him.

Nope, hatchling normal males look no different than their female counter parts in regards to color, either way is good to go!

    Congrats on the new snake!

And males vs females is usually only really a size difference, isn't it?

I don't think the size difference shows up, until they're adults/subadults. Plus there are always exceptions. Nature like to keep us on our toes. ;)

Generally, but it's not always the case.

when i was looking to buy mine... my breeder suggested i purchase a female, since it was my first snake and if i 'tire' of snake keeping females bring in a profit when they are older whereas males don't.

so i set up to buy a female but there was an error made on his end... and so i took home my original choice, original snake... dexter :)

I'm glad that you are happy with Ivan. He really is a nice looking guy and I was missing him more than I thought I would.

Well he must like us okay, cause he ate for me on Saturday! Figured I would give him a week to settle in, so I skipped last Saturday. Pulled his tub out of the rack, so we could watch well, and when I was pulling out the paperballs, bowl, and hide he was striking at everything that moved! I was concerned he was way stressed, but when I put the mouse in, started tracking him immediately. He missed on the first strike, but totally nailed him on the second attempt!! It is so cool watching them stalk live prey, I feel bad for those who miss it because they feel the need to feed P/K. I AM NOT TRYING TO OPEN THAT DEBATE AGAIN, JUST A STATEMENT! My wife is still wanting to re-name him, but she can't really come up with something she really likes. After watching him go after that mouse though, she is contemplating 'Maximus'. Gladiator, fighting theme.
