Is morphmarket a good site to buy from
-
You don't buy through morphmarket. It's a database to help you find sellers. It's good to use.

Morphmarket is awesome. I wouldn’t really know what else to use besides Craigslist. I’ve bought 90% of my collection and sold the majority of my hatchlings on morphmarket

Positive props for Morph Market. All I'd say is that you still want to investigate the seller. Look at the reviews of the seller. The more positive reviews, and the longer they've been on MM, the less likely of getting ripped off.

Even looking deeper into their Instagram/Facebook is a good idea as well. You always want to be comfortable with the person you’re buying your animals from

MorphMarket is a platform. There are sellers on it I'd never patronize, and there are sellers on it whose reputations are impeccable.
Before buying any new critter online read this:

Just make sure you do your research on the seller!! Someone who doesn’t respond well or won’t take recent pics is a quick no for me personally and if I ever have any suspicions, I ask for a pic specifically with my name and date on it. I’ve never had an issue with sellers that have 100% positive ratings.

MorphMarket works great for what it is, but it can't guarantee you an ethical seller. There are sellers on there who are flippers, well known for selling sick snakes, and/or known selling something other than what you thought you purchased, but because they are long-time MM members with very high sale volumes, they may not appear to have bad customer ratings. Read the post linked by bcr229 above and check around some of the 'FBI' groups on Facebook that investigate claims about bad sellers.

I think MM itself is great. It has provided an extremely useful platform for us to sell/trade on. Constant improvements to make it even better, when because of it being the only platform really to do what it does with a big enough following, it could probably get away with charging the same prices and not really taking time to improve and still get the majority of people using it. I think it's rating system could use some work, but other than that, I do not have any complaints. From what I can tell, it doesn't do anything that hurts anyone or makes things more difficult for people for the sake of money besides charging subscriptions fees to sellers that want more volume/ads, which is completely reasonable given it costs money to host. Many platforms (not for animals) for example, will block you from linking websites and things to prevent traffic away from their site, and in the long run that hurts both buyers and sellers who want to communicate/gather information more effectively. If there is anything unethical they are doing, I don't know about it.

Its a good place to buy. But be careful. No where is 100 per cent safe..
I recommend:
1, look at ratings (although that can be faked.)
2, ask for other pictures. (multiple picture will give you a better idea of what they look like)
3, look at how long they have been members. (more years shows they have been honest and not banned)
4, search sold items from the seller as opposed to whats currently for sale from the seller to see how many they have actually sold in the past.
5, try to buy locally so you can visit and see the set ups, husbandry and the actual animal for sale.

Re: Is morphmarket a good site to buy from
5 snakes I bought through Morph Market. Read all the reviews and research outside of MM.. I personally have not had an issue with any of the snakes. My issue was lack of communication from a seller.. My advice don't buy from someone who doesn't post the actual reptile you are looking to purchase, and if you ask questions regarding the animal and do not get answers don't waste your time..
4 of the 5 sellers I bought from I would absolutely recommend.

I have been looking on MM too. Thanks for starting this thread. Everyone's tips and opinions are really helpful👍

Re: Is morphmarket a good site to buy from
I purchased our last BP from a seller I found on morphmarket. I did a little research and checked their feedback. Everything went very smoothly and our snake arrived in perfect condition. I would use MM again in a heartbeat. Just make sure you do your research on the seller (I focused on people with a lot listings and reviews so I had comfort in knowing they were experts in selling and shipping live animals).

On a side note... I think you can do a search on MM for breeders within a certain distance or location, so you can pickup in person. Of course, you may not want to meet in person.
My last purchase, a boa, was on MM. Seller was about an hour away from me. Picked up in person.

Be very careful when you go to morphmarket "just to look"... It's hard to walk away without buying something! :D:rofl:
