Who here has the biggest snake?
While I am in no position to own one, I am fascinated by the huge pythons. I was wondering who on this forum owns the monsters...and if I can see pictures of them?

Anyway, is anyone going to actually respond to the question asked? I doubt I will ever to be in a position to own one of the giants, although the retics are gorgeous, my biggest right now is a 5 1/2 foot red tail boa. What is a good way to distinguish between a brazilian, columbian,...

The best page for boa constrictor species that has pics of the different types is this:

    http://www.boa-constrictors.com/com/com.html

My biggest snake is my 7' 21lb female dumerils boa. Here is her picture with a ruler (the blue thing).

    https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil.../8/belasml.JPG

I also have a male granite burmese python who will someday eclipe her.. as will my female yellow anaconda. I plan on adding a male green anaconda to the fold sometime as well.

Off-topic...I heard a rumor that ever since the San Diego Zoo lost their +20' Burmese Python, they are offering a substancial sum of money for anyone who can produce a captive bred specimen that is over 20' long. Is this true?

What on Earth does a 20+' snake eat?? Do rabbits suffice? What's the next step up from rabbits? Chickens? Small pigs?

You guys are crazy. I got a pair of baby boas that I think will be the largest snakes I ever own, but who knows? I am not a huge fan of the burms rocks or retics but maybe some amnethestine pythons are in my future!?

I have seen one at a reptile dealer here in Malaysia. Although long and slender, these guys are extremely strong. They often stay up in the trees in OZ and i have seen footage of a snake expert (mind you he was a big dude) struggling to untangle one that has wrapped itself around his arm. He needed another guy to help him. I dont think they make a good pet, although others might have different opinions.

ok got yea so that is why you don't really see to many people have them at least i don't. Im looking to get another snake this spring but im wanting a good feeding snake but don't take very large feed. Im wanting something that has either the markings of a redtail or albino. Im totaly lost on what to get, im tired of the size of the ballpython and want something else to add to the collection, i also have a ATB, im totally lost like i said. I would like a short tailed python but NERD has none. What are they like i really like bloods but don't want that thick of a snake.

Amethystine/scrub pythons are the same thing. They are known for often being aggressive to some degree. I have seen pictures of one eating an adult kangaroo. Not an animal for the faint of heart.

    They can grow over 10'.

Nope.. red kangaroo. As in the ones that can be 6' tall. Tree kangaroos look nothing like your conventinal 'roo.

I found a website that showed one of these pics (not the whole series) and they referred to the prey item as a wallaby. Who knows with the internet though:)

It may be a sort of wallaby. I'm not really sure what type of roo it is (wallabys are 'roos too!) whatever it is.. it's not small.

Re: Who here has the biggest snake?
I know Anacondas can get to be over 230 pounds, but I don't know what the record is. Retics are retics can get close to 30 ft long, and there have been unconfirmed rumors of some well over 30 ft.

Re: Who here has the biggest snake?
The zoo I used to work at had a 350lb green anaconda. Males are much smaller than females.

Mr python is right.. retics are longer.. almost lanky! And the green annies are the heaviest normally.

World record length was a 33 1/2' reticulated python. It's in the Guinness book of world records.

Did that snakes "eyes" stretch? It looked like it to me. If they did is that common with snakes when they eat prey?

Re: Who here has the biggest snake?
The eyes wouldn't stretch, but the skin around them could a bit.
