Temp gun issues?
Hi, I am just wondering why my temp gun is reading 3.5 degrees lower than my thermostat and all my other probe thermometers (all are reading the same except temp gun which is 3.5 degrees lower)

Re: Temp gun issues?
Check the calibration by stirring up a glass of ice water and letting it rest a minute. Measure with the temp gun and the ice water should read 32* if correctly calibrated.

Re: Temp gun issues?
All is good all tempature readings are the same now :)
Quick question what is the max Surface temp for a bp?
I know about air temps but what about surface? Usually surface temps are hotter then air temps.

90 in my opinion. Some say as high as 94, but mine would not use their hot spot if it was that hot. I have my backup thermostat set to 92, and at that temp they all were in their cool spots alerting me to a problem when my primary thermostat probe got pulled out somehow.

I guess this is what I'm getting at....
The surface of my hot side hide(hotest spot, average is 92)is 95F ,the inside is 90F. Is this ok?
Hot side ambient temp 84F cold side is at 80.7F

Maybe dial it back ~2° and I’d say you’re golden

So the surface temp of the hot hide is 92F but now the inside is only 86-86F.

When you say "surface temp" and "inside" do you mean you are using heat from above and the top of the hide surface is 92 and the substrate surface inside the hide is 86? Just trying to get a good idea what you are meaning. If you mean the ambient inside the hide is 86, that's completely fine. If both are surface temps, I would suggest creating some cover above the hide that doesn't block the heat so much but gives them a feeling of security, like fake plants.

Re: Temp gun issues?
Yes both are surface temps,
And I am heating from above with CHE on a pulse proportion thermostat. And there are fake plants right above the hide and covering all three sides....I'll post a link with some pics

That's what I figured,
After 24hrs my reading are.
Ambient air cold side is at 79F
Ambient air hot side is 84/85F
Cold hide air temp 77F
Hot hide air temp is around 83-84F
Basking spot temp 91F
Humidity 60%
Any thoughts?
