My 2021 Breeding Progress
The last couple weeks things have really started to pick up so I figured I would make a thread to start posting my updates of what's going on here.
Panda Pied Project:
Pied x Cinnamon- laid 7 fertile eggs 5/20/21 that all look really healthy and are a good size.
Pied x Mahogany- post ovy, waiting on pre-lay shed still
Banana Enchi YB/ALS Project:
Banana Pastel Superstripe x Enchi Puma- pre-lay shed on 5/27/21
Banana Pastel Superstripe x Enchi Asphalt/or/YB- pre-lay shed on 5/27/21
Banana Pastel Superstripe x Specter Soulsucker- pre-lay shed 6/17/21
Banana Pastel Superstripe x Brite Lesser Pastel- post ovy, waiting on pre-lay shed still
Banana Pastel Superstripe x Granite YB- post ovy, waiting on pre-lay shed still
Banana Pastel Superstripe x Lesser Specter- post ovy, waiting on pre-lay shed still
I have a few more things I'm doing in the off season and may have some winter hatchlings out of them but nothing much to report with those yet so we shall see.
I am so beyond excited to see how my odds fair and see if I manage to get a worlds first or two.

Re: My 2021 Breeding Progress
Looks good! I know the pain of relying heavily on one male. Pretty safe though, most of the time it is not the male that is the issue, but, the female.
I love Superstripes! Years ago I was closely examining working Superstripe into my collection. I did not because I was not confident I could ID Specter in certain combos. At the time I went with Caramel Albino instead (lol--burned). :)

I have some backup males if need be, but not nearly as good of a pairing, so I'm really glad that he pulled through. Took him a while to figure things out but once he did, he was locking every single attempt, and more importantly stayed eating and kept his weight good. I count it as a win even if I get a few more slugs than I would like from some females hitting the point of no return before they got many locks.
YB complex stuff can be a pain to identify sometimes for sure! That makes it more fun for me honestly though. Really simple pairings with clear cut results don't entertain me as much as doing genetics puzzles. Its of course not the best move financially though when you have to sell things as "possible Specter" or whatever morph it is.
Carmel Albino, oh boy. I've heard different things from so many people but I'm going to probably avoid it if possible. I think it was Chris Hardwick I was watching who didn't even bring it into his lines on purpose, had it pop up, and had kinks. :( At that point you have no choice but to go through and retire a bunch of animals to pet status that are likely to carry it or risk it popping up over and over again.

Re: My 2021 Breeding Progress
Look like you've got an exciting year in front of you Nikkubus! Would love to see some pictures once you have some stuff start hatching. Also if you end up putting anything up on Morph market or somewhere else let me know, would love to have another pet from someone here on the forums.

I will be posting lots of pictures for sure! Once they are ready to go, I'll post in the classified section here too with MM link and whatnot :)

6/27 My giant granite yellow belly female shed.
A couple days ago I swear I saw my brite lesser pastel on eggs but I was hallucinating and it was just her tail curled up inside her coil funny LOL. I was like, you havent even shed, that can't be right!!
7/2 enchi puma laid 6 fertile eggs. They are a little on the smaller side but being a 3 year old first time female, it's to be expected. She was absolutely a sweetheart letting me remove her eggs compared to what I'm used to. Probably really tired. Bet she will be happy to get a small meal in her tomorrow.

Wishing you an awesome breeding season! Thanks for helping us noobs out! All the best!

Well, it's been a bit of a frustrating week or so. My first clutch of the year was due to hatch today. I had 2/7 eggs that started molding, and I caught it soon enough to stop the spread somewhat with fungal powder, but 3 eggs are looking poor, 2 look perfect. The 2 that had the bad mold (which I removed and cut to check what went wrong) appear to have quit developing for whatever reason probably a week before the mold started and had bad rotten egg smell inside. Who knows what went wrong, these things happen sometimes despite perfect incubation.
Today I cut the remaining 5 eggs expecting them to be ready to hatch. The 3 rough looking ones had weak veins, look a little behind in development, but are still alive for now. Crossing my fingers they pull through. The good looking 2 had really strong veins and looked like they should, basically ready to come out, so I expect them to be fine.
My thermostat malfunction while mom was gravid may be to blame, I'm really not sure. Hopefully the rest of the clutches turn out great. So far they are looking perfect.
