New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
I know the wait is long not worried about that, the BP is still a baby and not big enough to be ship out yet.
until the mean time i will be using plastic tubs. but i want to order a T10 Now my question is, Do you need to have RHP and flex belly heat tape?
or can i just order the T10 with the belly heat tape? whats the difference in RHP and belly tape?
and for the guys that have RHP, how much did it cost to get the RHP?
Will this tub work until the mean time? i pick this one up today.

Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
For a ball python in a T10, skip the belly heat. You don't need it. Just get the RHP. I think it was around $150 or so (I honestly can't remember with my T10). But, it's all you need. If you get it from Pro-Products, you can have them ship it to Animal Plastics and have them install it for you.

Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
The 2 T-18's I have on order I ordered the belly heat, I also have RHP's I've already ordered and will install them when I get the T18's
From all I've read only the RHP's are required, I personally like to have a back up heat system in case of failure or issue with the RHP
The belly heat will give them a hot spot at least if needed.
I started my baby BP's out in a 10 gallon tank, it measured 20"x10" so a tub of that size should work
The first tub you posted was 14 3/16x 17 3/8 I would think that would work

My Only concern on the first link, the Tub I pick up, is that, it's Pure flat, under neath, no air flow for my heat mat, I have a Thermostat, Ipower .... the other 2 links I posted up, they have some lip under the bin for air flow....

Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
On the glass tanks, when sitting on a flat surface I added self stick feet like this https://www.lowes.com/pd/Scotch-Rubb...ers/1000328183 to the corners ,
that gave it an air gap for the heat. I also covered my heat mat with a piece of reflectix,
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Reflectix-R...5-ft-L/1014123
to help direct the heat up into the tank for a hot spot. I'm currently doing that on a plastic tub right now for my quarantined snake.

Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
Yes those corners things I'll go pick up...
Question, so you have an AP cage? As for the option to add a Basking Shelf, is this shelf removable or permanent 🤔

I have AP Cages on order, Hopefully I see them by the end this year.
Yes as far as I know the basking shelf is removable, There's another post on here where a member took his out and wasn't using it.
Found it.... Here's another thread https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...=1#post2758435
Post #9 Charles 8088 said he took his out

Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
Congratulations on getting your new critter. I have a few T-10s and use RHPs as the sole heat source in all of them. There’s no need for the heat tape imo. I can achieve a good basking spot and ambient temps with just the RHP even during the winter months. I use 60qt tubs for my baby snakes. I like tubs that have latches on each end.

Wen I call pro heat phone number, it goes to an answer machine, and they say they are not taking orders dues to Manufactured parts are taken longer than normal to get or if they even available.... what that said no luck I am assuming.....
Why is Blackbox cages so expensive? A 4ft cage comes out to be over 600$

Can get an RHP from reptilebasics.com.
Depends on the options you selected on blackbox cages. 4x2x2 at $380 bare bones is about on par with most other manufacturers

what would be a recommended size / watts
for the AP T10?
And these panels can be hook up to an Ipower thermostat? to make it work? or do you also need to order one of those Vivarium Electronics Boxes to run there the RHP?

Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
You can always use a uth, or heat tape, and use a CHE as needed to boost the ambient temps. I have several snakes that have a uth only and they’re just fine. I will put an electric heater in the room on colder winter nights. If it’s not unnaturally hot or cold your snake should be fine in most house conditions. The ambient temps in my house range from 68-78 depending on the season. As long as they have access to a temperature regulated hot spot you shouldn’t have any issues.

these AP cages can be use with the belly tape option they offer? or UTH like you mention?
snake will always be kept in my room Ambient temp about the same as what you posted 68-78 but its about summer time, Plus i do have AC and Heater in my house.

does anyone on here have an AP cage with belly heat tape? if so whats your experience with it? Does it do the job to keep your snake happy and warm?
These are the option i have with AP cage i think these option will do just fine?

Your options are fine. Can't really go wrong with any of them. I only use a RHP (80 watt) in a T10 and have never had a problem with digestion or heat gradient. I don't think there's a need for heat tape on top of a RHP but it can't hurt anything.

The heat tape or UTH will work with the AP cages. You should only need one heat source if your ambient temps are in those ranges. I’ve never used heat tape but I believe it works just like a UTH. You could ask AP to add a screen cutout if you decide to use a CHE to boost your ambient temps later but again I don’t think you’ll need it.

You have been very helpful, thank you, And yes i know not to use heat tape with RHP, just asking and seeing what all are my options.

so you got the VE radiant heat panel from Reptiles basic, and put it on your AP cage?
OK since it has to be screwed in from Inside the cage, How does the top look? Does it look professional? or does it come with long as screws that will go threw the PCV and poke out on top?

Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
I don’t believe that anyone is trying to dissuade from the use of UTH/heat tape. I personally use heat tape and/or RHPs in my enclosures depending on the species, temperature stratification from floor to ceiling, size and type of enclosure/rack, heating element of the enclosure below, etc.
It ultimately depends on the parameters of your snake keeping environment and how it fluctuates. Those with cooler room temps may need more supplementary heat than those that heat their room when needed, as myself.
Best advice I can offer is to try a few different methods and find works best in in your personal circumstances.

once this girl is ship out, then i will go place my order for AP T10 with belly heat tape, my house is warm it will work just fine.... But i am also curious on how those VE brands of RHP, how do they install and look wen they are done...

RHP is to the right ceiling of this picture. 3 screws. If you are familiar with using a screwdriver you should be good to go. AP may even have a routered exit for the cord to the panel if you call to inquire.

Nope. And this cage manufacturer has notches pre-cut in the back for the cord to exit.

What do You mean? AP cages already set up, with a cut big enough to pull the cords threw?

Pro heat got back to me today for a T10 this is what they offer.
For the cage you describe with the specifications given, I would recommend our Pro Heat model PH-3, 255 BTU/h, 75 watt, 12" x 18" x 1" radiant panel. Our panels can be controlled with any brand of thermostat. Pro Heat radiant panels are the only panels sold that can be mounted directly to the inside top of the cage against any surface without any risk of damaging the material or ever causing a fire. The cost of the model PH-3 is $114.95 + $16.95 S&H to the lower 48.
I think i will go with the VE 80 watt panel instead, more bang for your buck, plus i see better reviews on VE.
But i like The Inkbird ITC-308 digital temp control thermostat its WIfi with an app to my phone. Could this Inkbird be hook up to VE panel? or do i need a VE thermostat to run the panel?

According to Reptile Basics, pulse proportional is recommended for the most stable temperatures, but it's not absolutely required. Inkbird doesn't make a pulse proportional model as far as I know. It's a lot less of an issue with RHP than it is with CHE, but still aim for the lowest wattage that can heat the enclosure to the desired temps, and do plenty of tests runs till you get things dialed in just right. If you decide to go with pulse proportional, I've had good luck with spyder/herpstat.

I have 4 of the Pro Products PH3s in my 4 T-10s and I couldn’t be happier with them. AP installs them perfectly too.

That's good to know, I talk to a lady yesterday on the phone from AP, she answered all my questions great. But still a long massive wait time.
How do you guys upload pictures on here? I do not see my options

tapatalk if you want to upload directly. otherwise you need to put them on some sort of photo hosting and use the little picture button to put the link and it will show the photo in the post.
you can upload them to your profile gallery and use that link as well

tapatalk is an app on phones that interfaces with many different forums to add some easier to use features. using that, you can post a photo to a thread without having to upload it somewhere else first.
otherwise, you have to look in this toolbar (pictured) and click the image icon under the emoticon one and paste a link to a photo

As stated above, Tapatalk is an app that interfaces forums. Makes the forum site much easier to read and use on a mobile phone. It's free to use. I use both the website and Tapatalk. But, if you want to post a pic, Tapatalk makes it easy because it'll host the photo for you. Just click to upload the photo to the post, and Tapatalk does the rest. Otherwise, using the web interface, you have to upload the photo somewhere yourself, and then link to it.

Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
Here is basic set up, been watching temps for 3 days now, and I fill good about my temps, today was the only day I put in paper towels, and that's where my temps sit. With out paper towels the hot spot is 90 to 94....
So is it normal to up my Thermostat like that? To get my temps right?
And if I use coco husk, I know they like to barrel in the husk , so I would have to adjust my temp if needed.....https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1b386b0bea.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...074aed70d0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2751332d5c.jpg

P.S
My thermostat is set to 105f with paper towels, I just took out water bowl today after it also being in there 3 days as well. humidity does good between 50 to 60%
at late night like 1 between 5 am it gets down to under 50% then it goes back up early in the mornings.
I have my 2 hides coming also.
-
Re: New member, New to all of this, Another T10 question.
I’d go by the temperature underneath the paper towels and adjust the thermostat accordingly. I have one snake in a tub and his thermostat is set to 92 to give me a hot spot of 88.
