No retics can not get up to 30 feet.
The Sulawesi mainland locality is one of the largest so a 23 foot female is possible. Also bear in mind that in Indonesia people don't tend to get as big/tall as people in Europe and the US due to genetics and dietary considerations, so it would be possible for a retic to eat an adult, though again highly unlikely.

You know what they say in the biz: "If it bleeds, it leads!" Sensationalism sells.

I'm not sure I believe this but if a snake can supposedly get 48' 8" then I think a snake could get 30'.

Wait for the scientists to verify....
I wish I had some $ for every "6' rattlesnake" I picked up to relocate... None were ever 6', but if they were nearing that size, they also weren't rattlesnakes, they were gopher snakes with rattling tails, lol.

I don't doubt that one bit. It's just quite a "leap" to 48'+. Call me a skeptic.

Pretty sure most shedded skins stretch larger than the actual snake ... maybe wrong

Yes, they sure do stretch! And the longer the snake, the more the shed skin stretched out longer than the actual snake.

that is exactly correct
you can add many feet simply stretching a skin as it dries

The label on it said that, and said that the original snake it came from had been measured at 33 feet. The skin was somewhat longer and had not been stretched.
