which ap cage would be best?
Hello, I was wondering what Animal Plastics cage people recommend for adult blood python? I have been looking into blood pythons for a while and couldn't find which cage people thought was best for an adult female. Trying to see what space I would need to have in the future. Thanks

I’ve not kept bloods personally but there are some keepers on here who do, hope they’ll chime in. I believe many folks keep them in enclosures with a 4x2’ footprint and not much height. Probably a T10 would do the trick. If you wanted more floor space the next larger option would be T13.

I thought about t13 just for the extra height with it being heavy bodied, and ease of taking out.

The 18" height is the highest I would personally go. My older bloods/shorties seem to favor the 15" height or less. I have some 18" tall cages from SOG plastics and the shorties seem to feel less secure the farther they are from the ceiling. With the 18" ceiling they seemed to be in their hides all the time. When I moved them to t-10s/t-8s they come out more and burrow in the substrate/ soak in their water bowls etc. With the low ceiling ventilation does become an issue. If you have good air flow in the room where the cage is it's not a problem, but adding ventilation may be necessary. No different than a rack system really. In the higher cages, I never saw them except at night, and then it was only their head sticking out Lol!. They will not use vertical space at all. I haven't really been keeping them that long, my oldest is 5 years old, but this is what's working for me. I am bringing my babies up in racks until age 3 or so, then I am going to t-8/t-10/vision 400. I would maybe go to 5ft cages if my females get really big. Depends on the animals I guess.

    A T10 would be perfect.

So I'm going to order a t10, but as far as heating my house is usually 67 degrees in winter. With my ball python who's in a t8 with rhp I have the side under the rhp at 91 which puts the cool side at 79 to 80 degrees. From what I have been reading blood pythons like a little more even with warm side at 86 and cool side at 80. Would it be better to use two heat panels to get the two sides closer or what way would be best to hit the temperature marks on both ends. I don't think I can hit both temp marks with one panel, and my wife is not too keen on having a space heater running. what would be the best way to achieve desired temps?

With the room that cool your best bet is probably either two small panels or a hot side panel and belly heat on the cool side set to provide an 80° cool side floor temp.

Thank you, I wasn’t really sure what my options were. I’ll give pro products a call and ask them what their thoughts on two panels would be best. I haven’t used belly heat before so unless that is clearly the better option I’ll look into two panels.

I ordered the ap t10 and radiant heat panel. Talked to pro products and said I would be fine with one heat panel so now just to wait. thank you for the replies and information.
