Thank goodness for Camp Hiss -N- Slither, or we wouldn't even have a Ruari! Thanks to Camp Director Mike and Activities Director Jo :) Oh, and Ruari wants a bunny. He'll take reeeaaallll good care of it ;)

Dear Rauri's Mom:

Your snake son is doing real well at camp. I do need to tell you though, sadly Rauri has failed his Pet Keeping Badge miserably (after many attempts I might add). He seems to like bunnies however is a tad too errrrr physically affectionate with them....the bunnies don't last long Ma'am!

Rauri has though in his time with us earned the following badges:

Got My Skin Off All By Myself Badge
Best Hide N Seeker Badge
Fastest Dash Under The Couch Badge

He continues his interest in sports, however, I must warn you he is now a confirmed Detroit Red Wings fan so therefore you might want to consider this in planning his home activities. He is known however to lay upon the remote and suddenly switch off the television during critical moments (the Camp Director was NOT pleased!)

Also, and this is a rather delicate matter, his personal hygiene habits may need addressed. It's not that he "goes" all that often but we at the Camp do find an upwind approach is best as well as the classic "dash, grab, dispose" method. I'm sure you'll speak to Rauri on this matter as watching the Director gag and go green isn't terribly nice (though it's freakin funny!)

We would have fed Rauri tonight however a snow storm, slippery roads, and the loss of a sidemirror when we missed that curve and "kissed" a mailbox sort of put going to the meat bunny farmer off till the morning when the sanders are out. I promised Becky a full set of feeding pics so you will just have to bug her to post some of them LOL.

Well hey folks I had to come up with something because constantly referring to my husband as "Rauri's Uncle Mike" was making the hubby more snappy than Brannagh the Brat LOL!

Oh well a bit of levity is always a good thing and heck I kinda like the idea of being a "home away from home" for some snakes along the way. Somehow I doubt Rauri will be the only snake we ever rehome as it's been such a wonderful experience thus far.

I live in northern Michigan in the middle of a raging 3 day snow storm! I NEED OUT!

Actually the snow stopped and the wind dropped this morning. How sad is it that I'm all excited to be getting out to go to the bunny breeder, the dollar store and the hardware store (more weather stripping needed!). I have no life okay and I know it LMAO.

It is quite alright that you don't earn your Bunny Keychain Crafting Badge. You still have all of the athletic badges to collect!

I know Camp food can be icky sometimes, but it seems that we picked a good Camp for you to spend time at :) Bunnies are part of a well-balanced snakey meal, as you know. I think it's a waste to just make the bunny into a keychain, so good job making good use of it.

Tonight was sports night here at Camp! I got to wear the best leather Red Wings cap because I'm the only snake around here smart enough to appreciate hockey (possibly also because the other snakes would just hide in it anyways...dumb royals!!!).

Nice lookin' jersey you got there! However, you really should become an Atlanta Falcons fan, and not some 'ol dumb hockey fan!

The Falcons make my human do some weird dance moves that she calls the Dirty Bird when the Falcons score. It's really quite a sight to see.

Wish I had a jersey like yours! The closest I can come to if you stretch your imagination is an 8 with the holes filled in! Not nearly as cool as yours!

Oh my I'm laffing over this thread I started! It may be goofy but it's fun to do and with the winter blaaah's I sure need the fun (hope the rest of you do too).

All joking aside though, just so I don't give the wrong impression in the midst of this good humor. We know Rauri is a snake and even though he's often out in the evening it's only for a reasonable time period. In the end, no matter how cute this all is, we wouldn't stress the big fella out for all the cute pics in the world.

Oh and Ken, he does watch football though being here in Michigan it's better to watch college than pro. Pro makes Mike sad LOL!

Thanks Aleesha that's kind of you to say. I just try to be mindful that even with my wacky sense of the absurd I don't go over a line with the creatures or encourage anyone else to do so.

Now having said that, my kids have a way higher tolerance so they are always good targets....errrrr.....subjects! :)

Well since this was Rauri's last day with us I figured it was appropriate to do his last letter home from Camp Hiss N Slither.


Dear Momma Becky,

Today was a funny day at Camp! Mike and Jo fussed over me and Jo got wet stuff in her eyes? Humans are strange! I don't think I like the idea of going in a pillowcase but they said it was for the best. I tried hard to get back out and they had to keep stuffing parts of me in....THAT WAS SUPER FUN!!!!

Camp was fun but I am glad to be coming home to you finally. Jo said you have yummy stuff for me to eat and I like to eat! I got my Good Behaved Snake Badge and my Biggest Poop in the House Badge while at Camp. I never did get my Pet Keepers Badge...those darn bunnies, rats and guinea pigs aren't real hardy critters....you give em a nice hug and dang they fall over dead on you every time!

Awww - very sweet letter, Rauri! I know you'll love your new home, and you'll always have god-parents in Ohio! They loved you very much - but they know that you are off on a new adventure with your new mommy and know you'll be fine!
