Great pics, Ziggy! That’s a solid crew you’ve got there. That last pic of Klauss is kinda spooky, I like it. Also, where did you get that shirt?

Thanks JMC. That's a Morelia Python Radio shirt. I think they were advertising them on FB.

Thanks Toad. You probably can't see his red eyes but that's an albino white-sided, or snow, bullsnake.

Damn, Ziggy!!! Everyone looks great, especially the handsome model you hired to pose with the snakes!! Hahhahaha.
Awesome crew my man!!!
I was gonna ask about the shirt too, JM beat me to it.

Great shots Ziggy. Your boas are beautiful and your bulls. But of course I have a soft spot for the Carpets ;).
Amazing collection brother :gj:.

Thanks R4L. The olive and scrub will compete one day to see who's the king of this serpent crew. The olive has a slight edge for now but the scrub is coming up fast. 🙂

It's definitely going to be a close one when it comes to it. I can't decide which I like more. Any idea how large they are going to get?

The Olive is the King.
They are known snake eaters and from the research and data that I've read the scrub has been on the prey end of the mix.
I'm not sure how common it is, but your Olive is a specialist when it comes to all kinds of prey and the Scrubs are on the list, at least sometimes.
Mark O'Shea's book mentions the scrub having an enemy and it is the Olive.

Last bit of derailing on your thread Ziggy, but I feel it applies to the animals you’ve displayed here. Though this is an Aussie scrub in the video and not Indonesian.
Cheers, bud!

Wassup Dubs?! It's great to "see" you bro! All is well on this end. I pray all is bliss your way.
Those carpets are like putty in my hands. The boas and Olive are all easy to handle too. The scrub is a slightly different story. He's gotten much better but I still keep a close eye on him.

Snakes look so good man, carpets don’t seem to like me! My white lip is close behind but handleable.. for now!!
your collection and diversity always inspired me and still does. Love to mix it up for sure !

Re: Ziggy's Crew- A Collective Progression Thread
Klauss shed last night. I know he's hungry. It's been 16 days since his last meal. Still, I had to get him out for some quick pics. He musked just a wee bit when I first took him out of his enclosure but he hasn't taken a swipe at me in months. I didn't have to wrestle him off the jungle gym, he was really good going back into the enclosure, and he went to his perch instead of retreating to his hide. I think our mutual trust is growing.

Looking great, my man!!!
Cornell (JCP) just shed overnight too!!
Klauss is a STUD!! I've been talking with Rob from N.E.R.D. a bit lately and we've discussed scrubs a few times. They're actually his favorite species to work with. He does talk about them taking some time to develop that trust, but says the work is well worth it. I'm glad you and Klauss are developing the mutual trust, that's awesome!!!

Man Ziggy....that motley boa is something special and puppy dog tame. The offer is still on if you ever get too many snakes that you have to unload one https://ball-pythons.net/forums/images/icons/icon12.png

That’s one helluva gang of critters you’ve got there, Zig! Love that Argentine!
Every time I see a picture of Klauss I wonder if I’d like a scrub python, then I consider the logistics of cleaning and feeding a 7’+ heat seeking missile with teeth... [emoji51][emoji23]

I definitely wouldn’t recommend scrubs over carpets or boas, but my guy is growing on me. I’ve had him for a little over 2 years now and we’ve made quite a bit of progress. He’s still the last choice when I want to “play” with my snakes, and I still use gloves to remove him from his enclosure, but I ditch them after just a few minutes. He hasn’t tagged me in a couple of months and hasn’t musked in a while either, even when I have to occasionally wrestle him off the jungle gym. We’re not all kisses and cuddles but he’s much more relaxed and less defensive than he was when I got him. I’m learning to trust him more too. The biggest issue for me isn’t necessarily what he does but what he could do. His movements are unlike any of my other snakes, and his energy is more intense, so he keeps me on alert. Like Wnateg said, they’re very fast, they’re also surprisingly strong, and they have a really long strike range so controlling them can be difficult. I’m learning to flow with him more instead of fighting against him. All my other snakes, including my olive, who’s bigger than the scrub, are much easier to handle, but once he relaxes he’s actually kinda fun to hang out with. I even got in some rubs under his chin the other day.

Re: Ziggy's Crew- A Collective Progression Thread
The boas are growing slowly but surely. The BI is a 2017 male and the BCO is a 2018 female.

I liked this pic for some reason.
https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/Li3WRNl.jpg
This is my slowest growing Morelia. He's a 2015 just like the JCP in the pic above but much smaller. Probably because he's a part time "mouser".

Still learning the ropes with this guy. I realized yesterday that he does NOT like being tapped or pulled with the hook. I wanted to take him out of his enclosure to clean and change his water. It's easier to get him out if he's in a hide but he was perched on his shelf facing me. I tapped him on the snoot, and rubbed his side, with the hook and tried to grab a coil to pull him out. That didn't quite work. He struck defensively but missed. I quickly closed the sliding glass before he could lunge again. I decided to leave him alone rather than fight which would almost certainly have meant getting tagged and crapped on. He was coiled up and on high alert for a while but finally settled down after about 30 minutes. A couple of hours later he was relaxing on the floor of his enclosure at the front of the glass. I already had on a long sleeve shirt so I put on my gloves and decided to try again without the hook this time. I quickly slid the glass open and confidently grabbed the thickest part of his body. Once he turned and tried to retreat I knew I was ok. He came out pretty easily after that. I ditched the gloves and the rest was a breeze. He didn't strike or musk. I put him on the jungle gym while I did my cage maintenance and he was a perfect gentleman going back into the enclosure. He ate a large rat a week ago so he won't get another meal for a few weeks but I might toss him a chick as a snack since he was such a good boy.

Thanks bro! I know they’re not as visually stunning as some other snakes but I think olives are probably the most underrated big snake in the hobby. They’re just a larger, more terrestrial, carpet python IMO. Speaking of carpets, I was originally beguiled by the amazing, vibrant, selectively bred, black and yellow contrast of jungles when I set out to get my first carpet. I was waiting on Nick’s jungle clutch to get a few more meals in them when I saw Reinz’s coastals and lost my cool. I called Nick and told him to send me a coastal to hold me over until the jungle was ready to ship in another 2-3 weeks. I’ve added a few more carpet ssp since then and coastals are still my favorite. If I were to get another carpet it’d be a coastal tiger! Those things are smokin!!

Don’t get me wrong, all three of my coastal carpets are incredible and I love them to death. Each of them have distinctly different personalities and habits that are super cool to observe. But with all the subspecies of Morelia spilota I’m having a real hard time not adding some ssp diversity here. There’s a smokin ‘20 female jungle produced by Mike Curtain that’s got me on the edge of my seat right now wanting to pull the trigger lol!

You talking about the WOW line jungles? I saw pictures of some of the clutch and the parents recently, and I certainly concur with your opinion! The one male with the funky headstamp tempts me...
I've actually seen a lot of "that one!" carpets posted lately, which is painful. I WAS actively planning on adding a Morelia to house this season. Unexpected events forced me to bench those plans, though, and I'm just not ready to jump on a new snake right now. Hopefully good things will come to those who wait!
-
Always digging this collection, and when you jumped into boas, I knew it would just add to the fun.
Great diversity and I'm really happy to see a zero failure rate with the species you've kept.
I'm satisfied with the 4 we have here, and just write the retic off as a learning experience so I'm not terribly disappointed that it didn't work out.
Looking at your collection is always refreshing and still pushes my temptation button a bit.
Happy New Year Zig.
