    I have an escape artist!
Well thisisnt to ask for tips because i know all the tips from the last time my ball python escaped...
I just wanna know why....the cage clips were on and i even put a heavy book on it so she couldnt lift and she managed to lift it...
The only problem is i dont have much time to look for her because i just moved and my mom doesnt want me to stay at my old house....
hopefully she climbs back into her cage...

....she wont just climb back into her cage...you seem to not be too conserned with the fact that your snake is missing AGAIN...if one of my snakes escaped, i would not be posting on forums, eating, or sleeping until it was found....

A pet reptile is a big responsibility so you need to make sure that your enclosure is escape proof....ESCAPED REPTILES CAUSE TROUBLE FOR ALL HERP KEEPERS...all it will take is for the new owners of the house(or anyone unknowledgable of the fact that you lose snakes) to come in and find YOUR pet roaming about...then the police or animal control gets called, etc, etc...that kinda stuff is what makes headlines and promotes strict laws against keeping reptiles

You definately need to work out your enclosure situation before trying to take on the responsibility of multiple snakes....for their sake.

Snake can figure out how to repeatedly get out .... owner can't figure out how the snake keeps getting out ... hmmmmm .... maybe a nice beta next time? :D

Mine's in a wooden viv with sliding glass doors - I have a rubber wedge thingy between the sheets of glass to keep the little devil from pushing her way out (I hope!)

Remind me, what type of enclosure are you using? I am currently using an aquarium with a screen top lid with clips.

My future balls will be in Rubbermaid/Sterilite with either binder clips from an office supply place as extra "clampage" and/or a bungee type cord around it.

Not sure if velcro will provide the strength you want. Not saying it won't, just can't picture it right now!

Re: I have an escape artist!
Well, after sitting and watching Mr. Bojangles for a couple hours today, I finally found out how he has been getting out - and it wasn't what I expected. I figured that he'd been pushing through the inner-most portions of the tub's top where the locking clips weren't. Nope. Instead, he's actually been squeeeeeezing through the 1" x 1/2" fencing that I zip-tied to the lid over a hole I had cut! I couldn't belive the little bugger could fit through it, so I simply took the extra pieces of fencing I had left over and placed it on top of the piece already installed, but lying at an opposite direction so as to make the spaces 1/2 of what they used to be. He hasn't been out since :D

Anyway, I suppose what could be said about this is that it's easy for a beginner snake-keeper to lose his pets from their cages. You can't keep an eye on them all day long, and all it takes is for you to be out of the room for a few minutes for your snake to capitalize on the opportunity. You don't setup an enclosure thinking that your snake can escape it - especially if you can't fit your fingers through even the largest gaps! And when it happens, it's not always an obvious fix. ;)

Good luck in finding your snake, and I must admit - you do seem a little lax about the whole situation. I'd be scouring the entire house for my baby! When you do find him, and put him back in his enclosure, I highly recommend that you grab a book or a game-boy, and sit in the room with him for as long as it takes to catch him in the act - then fix it!

Yes he is (unless he found him). I can imagine it's not going to be a good scene when the new owners find him after they move in.

    Well,
She was not found yesterday...i wanna cry i shouldnt have used that crappy tank after the 1st escape...:(
I spent at least 8 hours yesterday looking but no luck...
I will not allow my mom to sell the house until i find her...shes my first snake...

To make sure she doesnt freeze i raised the temps to 80 in the whole house so as we clear the house out sheshould pop up somewere if i cant find her.

Any other suggestions would be great

Re: I have an escape artist!
i have no idea if this is a good idea... so get someone else to confirm before doing it...

    but...

if you put a live mouse in a small plastic container, which your snake can't get into... then, when it's hungry, wouldn't it smell the mouse and 'stalk' it and stay near it till you find it?

perhaps a nice heating pad placed beside the plastic container. (air holes for mouse please)

ball pythons don't stalk prey, if it hasn't turned up in furniture, boxes, or clothes then perhaps it got into the ventilation. good luck!

Why would you turn the heat up? Besides incurring the wrath of whoever pays the bills, you've just made sure that the snake might be comfortable absolutely anywhere. Turn the heat back down. Then (hopefully) your snake will travel someplace warm and dark, like under the sink, the fridge, etc.

I would keep the heat up. BP's prefer safety over anything else IMHO. They would stay crunched up some dark colder place if it makes him or her feel safer.
