Scale rot?

So my bp just finished shedding, and I noticed some bad looking scales and a pinkish belly. Is this a beginning scale rot? He had been soaking in water a lot lately, but I thought it was due to his oncoming shed. The little black flecks on the scales are pieces of coco fiber. I wetted the coco fiber and it retained lot of moisture this time. I was thinking about getting a small fan and putting it in his cage for a while to dry out the fiber a little. Do you have a UTH?
If so, What thermostat?
Have a IR temp gun?

Looks more like the beginning of a burn to me.

I do have a uth, the thermostat is an ipower. It is set to 90, fluctuates from 88 to 92. I do not have a temp gun, but I will check the temperature with another thermometer. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...429ecb6069.jpg

Just double checked the temp with a digital thermometer, and it says it is 89.1, same as the thermostat.

On top of the substrate?

How thick is it?

I would get a IR temp gun. They make keepng so much easier.

Yes on top of the substrate. It is thick, a planted tank, so he can't bury into the bottom.

I've seen on some substrates that are thick it insulates when the snake is on it and the trapped heat can get much higher than desired.

I have a planted 40gal my Ball is in with thick cypress substrate. Over the UTH however it is very thin. You can see most of the glass. I then put the hide over it and put the substrate around the edges of the hide. I've even gone as far as making a underground hide with cave. The problem there was it was a pain when I wanted/needed the snake out since I had to dig it up. Now I have just have the hide with the water on top of it.

Hmmmm. So if it is a burn, would betadine soaks be steps to heal him? And addressing the problem with the heater of course.

I would think so.

Okay. He also hasn't been eating as regularly as normal, he ate 3 weeks ago, and went a month before feeding before that. Hasn't lost any weight though.
