Pics of Rauri the BCI

Here's Rauri the BCI who came to us as a rescue. We are fostering him and he will go to his new snake "mom" Becky (SatanicIntention) in the spring. I don't know if the body pic really shows his lovely salmon belly scales and his great colors. Poor Mike threw his back out today so it wasn't much fun lifting the big boy high LOL.

Yep! I can die happy now.

Gawd Jo, he's about as gorgeous as a boa can get. I just can't get over how lovely he looks. I can't wait to be able to see and hold him in person!

We're thrilled that you've entrusted us to care for him over the winter Becky. He's doing well and as you can see from the belly pic, not a mark from that long burn. He'll be fit and sassy for the plane trip come spring (and fulla baby bunnies LOL)

Interesting to see Ruori Jo. He's lovely and it's great that his burn has healed up, poor snake.


We've got two Boas that are remarkably similar. We were sold them as BCC's. Seeing Ruori I'm wondering if they're BCI's as they both have a lot of salmon pink on them and look very similar to Ruori. I've just fed them or I'd post a pic of Zag's sides and belly for comparison. I'll try and get a couple of good pics in a few days time.

That's an awesome tail for such a big BCI.

Thanks Shelby! We do think he's a very lovely columbian but with so little exposure to them we don't have anything really to judge him against LOL. He does have light/dark phase thing going on and lucky enough is very light right now so his markings are especially nice to photograph.

His personality is as pretty as that tail. What a lovely snake Becky is getting! He's gotten me to fall in love with boa's when I never thought I really had much of an interest in them LOL. Our 14 year old son, Lucas, thinks Rauri is the coolest snake ever!

*BCI's have mostly saddles that resemble : ()()()()() ; but they can also have a few widows peaks here and there.
*BCC's have saddles that resemble: {}{}{}{}

Thanks Jeanne.....yep Rauri's are that ( ) look to them. He's "just" a "common" boa but heck I think he's neat!

LoL Shelby, Becky would come get Rauri herself if I did that. We love fostering him but from day one he was Becky's boy before I even took him in I phoned her. Once Rauri is home with her in the spring though and we've moved to a bigger house we would like to get our own boa (or two).

Wow! Great job on lookin after the fella. He looks fat and healthy!

Thanks Raj! We were lucky that when Rauri came in, even with the belly burn and his incredibly dark stressed state he wasn't underweight. Once we got his husbandry straightened out his color adjusted and his sheds got perfect. He's really incredibly easy to care for.

We lucked out on finding a meat rabbit breeder only 5 miles from our house who raises rabbits for the restaurant industry so lucky Rauri is getting his dinner from a supplier whose inspected and all, as he raises for human consumption. He only eats twice a month which seems to be just right for him and since he was at one time a pet store snake, he will eat just about anything offered to him with equal zeal.

We do try to get him out a fair bit so he can stretch out and get that big body some exercise. During good weather we have an enclosed porch that he used a lot though typical male, he likes to head for the love seat out there and laze around watching the squirrels through the window LOL.
