    Look Who Joined Me.
This guy gets left alone from October until Mid March every year.

I fed him the first meal of 2020 roughly 5 days ago. Sniper is ready for the warm weather this year. He's pretty dark at in these pictures, so I'm guessing he'll go blue in the next few weeks.

He's probably right around 7 feet long and in excellent condition. I like all of my animals lean and muscular. He's an example I'm proud of.

These are not very good pictures but they are very recent. Actually within the last hour.

He's strong, but so easy to handle compared to the retic I had here. Its nice to have a male that isn't combative.

For those unfamiliar, Sniper is a Rio Bravo produced (Gus Rentfro) animal. He is a Barranquilla, Colombian boa. He is a true locality animal and if you read THE COMPLETE OR MORE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR books by Vin Russo, you can research that this species is what a natural cross between BI and BC is in nature. I'm privileged to own something like this!

I'll get some better photos when the outdoors is more accepting of reptile appreciated temps.

Sniper is my first animal. My son's royal was first snake here, but this boa is my own and an animal that is irreplaceable.

    Thanks for looking.

He looks great. It’s evident you take good care of him.

Thank you for a great example of an adult male Boa.

Nice to have a "large" snake with a docile personality, huh? They know they're big, so they don't worry about you hurting them.

It sounds like some retics are big and think, "well then, I can hurt you."

I haven't heard of too any boas like that, especially who've been treated right and have some size.

    LOL!!

It looks like some type of Star Trek space suit in those pictures.

I have a hoody and my Adidas sweats on there. Typical "comfy clothes" here. Usually I'm headed for or coming back from a workout. The flash really added a bizarre effect.

Well, when I was loosing my hair to alopecia and wouldn't take the medication that might prevent total hair loss the doc told me you will loose all your hair. I told him if I look weird thats your problem, if I feel weird, its my problem.

    You're not that weird Gio.

    Be safe out there.

    Thanks Zig,

He's not showing his best coloring there, but he's probably dark and headed for a shed. He's also post meal, but even still he's getting older and unlike retics, boas seem to drop their best coloring the older they get.

I'll see what some sunny, outdoor photos do to his coloring when I can get him out.

I'm expecting 20 years or more out of this guy so I'm hoping to have a lot of pictures to come in the future.

    :D

It always makes me happy to see people anticipating/committing to several decades with their snakes. The long-haulers are the people that really give me hope for this hobby. I'm hoping for at least 30 years with mine. On top of giving them a good life and really nailing down my snake husbandry, part of me is looking to at least match one my herp mentors' age records. Has a bunch of old snakes -- including one that he's had for 30 years (!) -- and I'm looking to beat that with mine! They might just have to roll me in to the old folks' home with my little bunch of boas. :P
