Rate my bioactive setup for my future crestie!
Hey! Getting a crestie soon. Got an 18x18x24 bioactive setup going. Just plants and cleanup crew living in there for now. Don't know what age gecko I'll be getting yet but if I get a baby they will live in a smaller bin til they are larger. Just wanted to see what you guys think!

Here's the specs, bottom to top:
    18x18x24 exo terra
Custom foamed background w/ cork bark and driftwood
Hydroton drainage layer, about 1.5" thick
    ABG mix substrate
    Spring tails
    Dwarf white isopods
    1 dracaena Janet Craig
    1 neon syngonium
    2 algaomena "wishes"
    1 pink nerve plant
    1pepperomia
    1 ficus veriagata
    1 curly variegated spider plant
    1 rabbits foot fern
    1 neon pothos
    1 marble queen pothos
    Lots of mood moss
Exoterra compact hood w/ two 13w Green Gro LEDs

I still need to add a feeding ledge, a couple hides, and additional climbing structures. Obviously the plants need to grow up a little too. The temperature range is 66-68 at the bottom on substrate, and about 75-78 at the very top near the lights. Humidity stays between 70-80%. I think that's suitable, right?

Let me know if you would change anything!

Wow it's dead over here lol might as well turn this into a progression thread lol

Got my little man today. He's a pinstripe flame dalmatian? Lol I think. Haven't decided on a name yet but he's settling into his quarantine enclosure. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...efd3990ab0.jpg

Looks great. Pothos are amazing. They grow so fast and it's the only plant I can keep alive.

Here's the setup so far. Got all the pothos cutting planted. Gonna add a bromeliad to the background and call it good. The little guy is only about 9g or so. So by the time he's ready to go in here the plants and cleanup crew should be well established.

I agree they are practically bullet proof. They will tolerate almost any conditions. So inspiring lol

Well the springtail population is exploding but the isopods not so much. Have some more coming in tomorrow gonna try another species as well. Adding orange ones to the mix. The little guy ate some food off the end of my stir stick but he hasn't discovered the dish yet.

Nice looking set up! I've yet to try bioactive, but I love the look of it! Will the plants hold up once the cresties are bigger? Where did you get the plants from?

Setup looks awesome, I had a similar setup until gnats got into the enclosure and I had to start over again.

I bought a box of crickets for some of my other critters including my cresties and the gnats were in the potatoes that came in the box, I made the mistake of opening the box in my reptile room and the rest is history. Now I open the box outside and transfer them to my cricket tube before bringing them in the house. Another expensive lesson learned the hard way.

A lot of the plants were from Josh's Frogs. And some were cuttings from existing plants that I propagated. It'll be a while before I move him into here but I tried to select mainly plants that people have said worked well in their crestie enclosure. Before I move him in I will add climbing branches and stuff also so he will have more than just the plants to hang out on.

Wonder how well the cleanup crew would hold up against it.

I tried it, it didn't work maybe I have super gnats or didn't make a strong enough solution.
