Hello im going to head up to Columbus Ohio and pick me up some stuff at the Reptile expo and was wondering if anyone has orderd off this guy before or what, thinking about getting a RTB for 75.00 and save shipping. Also thinking about either getting the RTB or getting a BRB for 125.00 or some Colobids

Not even considering what I read in those 4 threads, I've heard a lot of great stuff about him from people. If you see something you like from him, go ahead and get it. He's one of the good guys. :)

I bought one of my bp's from him a few years ago, and never ever had any issues with this snake. He has been just as healthy as he was when Don had him. I reccommend buying from him. This being said, it is my understanding that Don is not suppose to be selling reptiles right now because of court order, but I am not sure it extended to this long, just cant remember the whole deal behind his case. So you may actually be buying from Robbie, who is just as knowledgeable and helpful as Don. I had the pleasure of meeting them both at the show when I bought my bp from them and they both were so helpful and patient and willing to offer thier assistance to me.

Something involving turtles if I recall.

Doesnt affect my opinion of his bp's or the helpful nature of service.

Yes you are right, something to do with illegal turtles.

And it does not affect my opinion on his bp's either, nor his and Robbie's helpful nature... cause I would happily buy from him again.

Well actually im also thinking about getting a JCP what size of enclosure do they need when full adult size? Also are they pretty decent if you get them young and get them used to be handled?

alright so could i use a tube for a baby? Sorry to get anything started with Don and the trouble he's been in, but for my cent there is alot of breeders that get into trouble and do things they shouldn't. I actually don't agree on a man or women buying a conda or burms or retics and getting a m/f and breeding them. I also think it should be a law to band breeding of Iguanas. Just my suggestion to help the breeding of snake that has low demands. Thanks Aaron

Just go to the show - the All OH show was fun for our whole family - walk around and see who has what - talk to as many breeders as you have time to and then make as informed a choice as you can.

And what kind of tube are you refering to? Tub? Yes surely - I'll show you what we've got our two younger ones in when I get home and can get a pic.

Let's try to give the Original Poster here a hand if we could.

    https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil.../2/liltubs.jpg

the medium tubs you see (middle) have juvenile carpets in them (Jungle and Coastal respectively) - you can actually almost make them out in there lounging on the limbs.

(EDIT - once i figure out whats going on with my hosting)

Actually yes i miss typed like always lol the pictures of the tubes wouldn't open for me. Im wanting to get a babie so im thinking a tube would work very well for the baby until i can purchase a Vision to put on top of my Ball. Im keeping my ball in the 36x28x18 would that work for the JCP at full size? If you could send your pics of the JCP and Enclosure tonight through a PM if you would thanks Aaron

(EDIT ~ Smulkin - pasted over from other thread)

alright got to see the pics im looking at the tubs from say LOWES they have some prett long tubes and deep. I keep my Amazon in a tube from walmart and im thinking about upsizing that tube. So can i heat the JCP with a UTH also?

I updated the above post with the picture (glad we have our own galleries lol).

I don't think that tub size would work for an adult JCP - but then again mine are still little fellas hardly at that stage. We'll have some additional on-topic replies (I have faith lol) from folks who keep some bigger ones.

    TUBE is for toothpaste hehe
TUB's what you want (once an English teacher always . . .)

Yes you can use an UTH. Ignore the light in the shot there - I was in the midst of juggling a ton of stuff around - it is usually pointed over towards the tarantula cages.

sorry kinda got lost with all the @@@@ going on lol. Alright so the Vision Cage that i keep my ball in wouldn't be good to use for the adult JCP then right? So i guess i'll have save the money while the snake is growing then to be able to get a nice setup for her/him. Im trying to get my wife into this kind of snake i've wanted one from Reptillicus reptiles but 350.00 no way lol

    Re: Don Hamper Breeder
$350 for what? An adult JCP?

I just meant the JCPs can get bigger than BPs, and being less terrestrially inclined would tend to use more of the vertical space in the cage than would a thick-bodied terrestrial snake.

Sorry for the confusion there bro - I was less than elegant in splitting the topic there lol.

So where would be a good place to buy a cage for when the JCP is gets bigger to be put in the large home? Also have you ever been tagged by you JCPs no that is for the babies 350.00 so yeah im not paying that. Im also wondering about the good friend at the petshop getting me one for 55.00 what would you suggest getting at the show or the petshop?

Aaron, it is not what we think, it is what you and your wife think, why dont you go talk to her? Thier care and requirments are pretty much the same, it is what you want to look at mainly.

    Show
    Show
    Show.

350 seems rather steep - and 55 seems rather low for a CBB.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule - and if things can come back to bit me in the buttocks they most certainly will.

You can get a lot more detailed info a breeder at a show than you can from any pet store. You can have the snake sexed right infront of you rather than resort to heresay. You can get detailed birth and feeding information and meet folks actually involved in breeding and keeping these animals rather than someone in a shop who is more involved with trafficking.

I would be very leary of your "good friend at the petshop" $55 is just too good to be true for a cbb thats healthy.

Ok im going to get my snakes off of Don if i decide to buy anything his are 125.00 give or take some, plus cheaper than paying shipping and everything. So they are about the same to take care of the jungle and the Iran, well i guess i'll have to wait and see what the wife says when she actually gets to see the snake in person. Pics online is nice but nothing like having them right in from of your eyes. So im looking at feeding large or jumbo at adult size with either of them right?

You can usually find very healthy looking, beautiful JCPs for aroud 90-150 at a show. And, like Smulkin said, you can talk to the breeder about what it's been eating, what it's been staying in, etc.

I go to that show regularly, it is great. Awesome experience, just wish I could go to more out of state.

Get hand warmers from walmart. Cheap, easy and effective.

Yeah don't make up your mind beforehand - keep your posibilities open - shop around etc.

~She's right ~$100 is in the neighborhood of what to expect (for a Jungle or Coastal).

For that price you will most likely get a juvenile young enough for a deli-cup. Rat pinkies and pups will be more along the lines of th size you'll need to feed. Of course at a show you can pick up feeders cheap. These are broad generalizations in response to broad questions though. Actual mileage may vary. Some assembly Required. Batteries not included. Use only under adult supervision etc.

I made that drive in winter before and brought at heating pad and an adapter for the car cig lighter to power it - it was about a 4hr drive.

If this is your first show you'll have a blast and likely return with a host of new prospective interests! Take a camera and fill us in on your return.

Thinking more on the lines of picking up two ATBs thinking about breeding them. I love these snakes they are the best in my eyes, i have a Very Tame unsexed garden phase i paid 130.00 at a local petstore. The snake was there maybe a day walked in see in the snake and asked for some info on the snake he said it was picked up from the Columbus show and i said let me see it so i handled it for about 10 minutes wife said she wanted it so we got the snake, picked it up the next day and have had no problems with the snake all around. No missed feedings or bites at all no hissing nothing. Im needing some help with seeing if i can tell the sex before i go to the show and pick up two more. I don't have time before the show to get the snake checked by my vet so that sucks. Im also wondering what kind of price am i looking at for a nice colored ATB. Also i was crazy to pay 130.00 for the snake but i had to have him/her.
