How long have you breed ball pythons or how long until you will breed ball pythons?

I think that is a good question.....time for another poll :D

Next season (2006-2007), will be my first shot at breeding :)

this year will be my first attempt. i've had snick in with ashe for a few nights in the past month, but here in the next few weeks we're going to really get going with things. :)

2006 will be my 11th consecutive year producing ball python eggs ... and without a doubt, more clutches than I have ever done before by far!! :D

and thanks to that i will most likely go even farther into debt. ;)

Next year hopefully will be our first year to attempt breeding with 2 females possibly 3 ready.

ha ha.....yep....me too :) Although with the wicked cool payment plans that Adam does, I am sure I will be able to get that het caramel female that I have been dreamin about....someday ;)

Well at this point Daniel we have Malachi, the 05 100% het for albino male from Adam and we've just decided on a nice 05 100% het for orange ghost male from OzzyBoids so those boys hopefully will be used if they are ready in time. If not, well I'll be searching for a nice bigger male for my pretty ladies by next summer but I'm really hoping the boys will be big enough. If not, I won't push them anymore than I would the girls. I'm a patient lady when I have to be LOL.

At some point we still want to get a pastel male from Adam and of course, more females...always more females LOL!

well i use to breed normals ten years aogo had to get out out it and i only did it for a few years and i had one clutch this year and maybe one clutch next. but most of my girls won't be ready till 2006/2007 breeding season. so i guess if you add all the years it be five for me

hey jo, i got my pastel from oz, he's a good guy. he has some nice snakes.

Attempting to start this year with two 50% het piebald males and two females each. Two of mine, and two of a friends. I got the boys from Jay Martin in Florida, who bought them from Tony Hurt (now SnakeEvolutions) who bred them. They are brothers, so I am fairly confident one of them is het pied. The hard part will e raising up the daughters, if any, to breed back to the father to see if they are pied or not.

My newest, Snoopy is big enough to breed now, but I don't have a male. I just bought a hatchling stripe male, and I don't have any sort of setup for breeding my own babies. Maybe eventually, since I'd probably get my heart's desired albino and pieds by breeding before I could afford to buy one. Hmmmmmmmm.:cool: But then again, there's all the fun in getting new snakes and adding to the pet collection, too!!! :love:

Thanks Vaughn. You and Adam both recommending Oz makes me feel even better than ever about acquiring our next little male from him but I bet he won't send me t-shirts LOL

Btw Adam, wearing those "isn't it about time you got some balls?" t-shirts to the local WalMart during the height of the retired folks tourist season up here is gonna get us SUCH looks....hehehehehehehehe :devilish:

Issa is definately ready to breed (my big male normal), but none of the ladies are ready.

Hopefully Princess should be ready to go for next year.

My room mate is buying a female Albino to try and breed it with my normal male ball python.

Not sure why you would breed it to a normal male when you can pick up a 100% Het Albino male that is ready to breed for under $100 and at least have a chance at producing Albinos on their first clutch...:confused:

I believe my first year of hatching ball pythons was 2002. Breeding a normal male to 2 normal females, two clutches of eggs, 6 eggs in each clutch hatched 11 babies. Ten of which survived. I decided to keep all the females and so I set them up in two groups. One to keep and the other to sell. But then a couple of years later I found that I must have accidentally switched the groups and sold off the wrong ones because all the ones I kept were the males...... DOH!!!

i bought ten babies from qfp in texas, and four died (you get what you pay for, and i paid ten bux per baby, still sad though) anyway, the heaviest is up to 145 g, but im only feeding once a week, not once every five days, and only one size appropriate meal. my friend, who is a breeder, is feeding her hatchlings 2-3 smaller meals a week and her babies are getting huge, but knowing my luck, it would backfire, so im just gonna take things nice and slow. i got a het ghost male that is breeding weight, so depending on how things go in december (my hubby is in the navy and he's getting orders) if we stay where we are, i might try to breed the next season if i can find a relatively cheap het ghost female, but if not, im just gonna wait until all my babies are ready and breed in two to three years ( my hubby and i cut a deal that for the next two years he can use any extra spending money on whatever he wants, as long as the third tax check, i get it ALL for snakes :) ) so we'll see. i want to start breeding now, but i dont want to put my snakes through too much stress, especially if we have to move next february. that is my plan, and it keeps changing slightly, but for now im gonna wait. :D
