Luna the Bamboo BP

I want to start a progression thread for my baby Luna so I have a chronological log to look back on when she's all growed up lol.

Luna hatched in August of 2019, by a local breeder here in CO. I loved her as soon as I saw her on his youtube channel, she has a somewhat busy pattern for a bamboo and I just found her dorsal spots and speckles so striking.

I acquired her at the Denver Repticon on October 19th, 2009 but I was so excited and focused on getting her all set up that I forgot to take any pictures of her before I placed her in her new home.

Here she is a few days after we brought her home, exploring her enclosure, which is a 41qt weathertight bin.

December 13th she took her first rat pup, no issues switching her from mice at all! The last couple weeks have been uneventful, feeding night was last night and that brings us up to date! Thank you so much! She cost me a pretty penny but I figured since she might be the only snake I ever get (but probably not lol) then I might as well get the morph I truly wanted! Worth it. She is my pride and joy!

Thank you so much! I got her from Chris Hardwick. Her pairing was just Bamboo x Normal, but he said the normal female had sort of a busy pattern that seemed to transfer to the babies, so there may have been a little sum' sum' in there.

Wow, I've been wondering who you got your snake from since your BP looks a lot like mine, and mine's also from the Denver Repticon. Pretty sure I've got Luna's sister! She's also from Hardwick's Bamboo/Normal. Your Luna's a real stunner, fantastic snake! Quite cute, although I may be a bit biased.

No, I ended up with Boss. Was torn between her and Rocky but decided on Boss (now Apep). Would have been cool to see you though! What was Luna's name at the show?

Edit: Luna's 255 grams? Wow! Apep's only about 150. Sounds like you're doing a great job with her!

Lefty lol. I held Boss but she was so tiny and he said she wasn't on f/t yet cuz she got a late start. I chose Luna (Lefty) cuz this is my first snake and I thought a more established hatchling would be a better choice for me lol. But yeah 255 before her last meal! She is a GREAT eater lol. She doesn't pop very often tho so I'm certain not 100% of that weight is her lol.

You were smart with that, lol. He warned me too, but I was too taken with Apep to listen... She's been pounding f/t rat pups lately, but getting her to that point was a bit of a nightmare. Glad to hear Luna's been a great eater with you! Hardwick mentions how his bamboos are pretty good eaters with good temperaments, which is why I wanted one in the first place (that and they're gorgeous).

Same! The good feeding response was a big draw to the bamboo morph for me as someone with high anxiety who dotes over her pets lol.

Tomorrow is feeding day, did my cage check this morning and she left me a few presents, so I decided to weigh her and she is 257g empty! Wow! What a big gorl!

Installed Luna's new branch today! Cut it off the maple tree in my parents back yard. Cleaned it up and baked it and then wrapped in pothos vine. Secured to sides of bin by drilling thru the plastic and into the wood. I think it looks awesome!

Luna just barely started to go into blue today. Gave her a humidity box to use if she wants to, had to wake her up to make space for the box on the hot side and she was NOT happy about that lol. Calmed down once I had her in my hands. Decided to get a quick weight before I put her back, 322g (bit still probably full from last feeding).

All shed out today!!! She wasn't in the mood to have her picture taken tho lol. I couldn't set her on the floor because my cat had major zoomies lol. Another perfect shed! Also she was holding onto 23g of pee and poop about. I had a nice mess to clean up this morning. She weighed in at 299g and I'm sure she's hungry! Luna’s beautiful, how often do you feed her? My girl is growing but sometime I feel like she wasn’t fed sufficiently prior to adopting her.

Thanks! Normally every 7 days however right now I am trying to feed off some smaller rat pups so I'm going every 6 days. Also I dont feed while she's in shed so it has been 8 days since her last meal.

I love her channel. She's probably the reason I even got a snake. I wanted one when I was younger but my parents would never let me, and I kinda forgot about it. I found her channel a little over a year ago and was like "oh man, i want a snake. Wait... imma adult now! Imma get a snek!"

Actually I just used a pendant try and glass cabachon w/ the skin and just a white piece of paper sandwiched between. Then used diamond glaze to seal them together. It was really easy!
