A Rewarding Day.
After years of not eating F/T rats, I finally got this girl to take a large F/T rat.
A little, or in this case a lot, of time and patience made the difference.
She's an 8+ year old girl and I'm thrilled with her today.

Shortly after I fed her, I was jumping out of the way as I fed the retic.
I will say the royal hit like a train though!
I hope she keeps this up.

Nice! My retic is eating mice, and I want to switch her to rats, not sure how challenging that will be.

Boy,
I'd have to check records. It was very hard to get her going when she was young, but she would take them for a while. Then we had back to back 7 and 9 month fasts if I recall correctly.
My guess is it has been since at least 2015.
Part of the problem was that I was an enabler. After trying and tossing rats and waiting for her to show interest after 20 minutes doing puppet tricks with the rats, I simply went with what worked the majority of the time. Live didn't always work either.
Leaving a F/T in over the night never worked but somehow today, I read the body language and felt she would give it a god after nothing for 2 months.
And WOW did she ever!
Hopefully she'll stay the course.
Also, thank you everybody else for the kind words.

Now just keep it up! Picky snakes are the worst lol. I finally have my last picky eater slamming f/t, had his head out looking and grabbed it right away last night and I've fought with him for years. A few months ago something clicked and he's been good since, I hope yours will do the same.
