How to slowly heat reptile up??
Hi! Quick question, how would you best slowly heat a reptile up that’s gotten too cold??

my leopard girl was shipped yesterday and apparently she took a different route than they anticipated and had a 6 hour layover in Indianapolis where it was 11 degrees last night!! So worried about this little snake. She is suppose to arrive in a few hours and I want to be prepared for what I need to do if she is way to cold. I really really hope she is ok...

Have a temperature gun or IR point thermometer ready and measure the temperature of the inside of the box when you open it. If there is a heat pack in the box then your gecko was likely warm enough during the trip, as the boxes are kept inside overnight.

If the box is cold I would keep the gecko at room temp for a bit before moving it over to its enclosure, and then put it on the cool side.

Thanks for your response and great idea I’ll bring my temp gun. It’s a leopard boa not leopard gecko I actually thought it could be confusing as I typed as many people might think leopard gecko :)

LOL no worries. The same process will apply to both.

Just picked her up and she seem to be ok just cold at 65 degrees. So letting her warm up slowly on the cold side of her tank now!

Brrr! Poor snake...this is why many breeders prefer not to ship at all in winter...the added risks of delays. Hope she's OK, probably is.

Coming from a town about an hour south of Indy... YES, it was COLD last night! Actually hit 9 degrees this morning before it started rising again. So very glad your girl made it okay.

Quick update! She seem to be doing good! Lots of resting and she found a perch spot she’s been hanging out on most of the day after she inspected her enclosure.

She's beautiful! Glad she made it safe. Just give her a little time to rest and recuperate this week and she should be fine.

Thanks for everyones comments! I am so happy she made it, I was literally so nervous when I opened up the box to see if she was moving!

Shes been hanging in the in the same spot since she got here but seem to be doing alright probably just resting. So hopefully all is well with the little girl:)
