    New Morph?
I was wondering what you guys think about this interesting ball python i am getting dec.3rd. His mother is a bit different than a regular striped ball python and she was ch from africa. He looks a bit more whacked out than his mother and he was the only one in the clutch that resembles his mom:D .

    Here He Is

I was wondering what you guys think of him and if you guys think he could be part of a new morph?

    Thanks in advance

woah. That pattern is insane. All the blotchet are irregular and wacked out in shape and placement.

I would hope that would be genetic becuase it looks quite nice.

As for if its genetic or not. I dunno.

Well , the breeder i am aquiring him from has no gurantee but it deffiniately has a big chance of being genetic because his mom has a gold strpe. He says it also could be that the eggs were incubated at a different temp but he really doesnt think so because they are in the same incubator.

i think it's just non-genetic but looks cool. you could try to prove it out if you want too

I wonder why it would be non genetic i mean its mom has a nice stripe and reduced pattern...I have to think

    Re: New Morph?
I have read that before and i know all about genetics and i also know there are people that know more than me but i think he is genetic because he resembles his mom. Im thinking it could be a co dom trait because he is the only one in the clutch that looked like that and the sibs arent ready to breed yet so we cant tell if hes co dom or simple recessive

Every year stuff similar to that comes in from Africa. If you have a chance to pick through the importers bins you see all kinds of odd balls. They are almost never consistently reproducible, but are still very nice to look at.

If the breeder says he's not, than I'm sure he isn't.

But my point was that there are many animals that are produced (either in "captivity" or in the wild) that have aberrant patterns and even some that look very similar to the animal pictured and in almost every single case they do not turn out to be consistently reproducible.

Just because it looks different, it does not mean it's a morph. Ball pythons are highly variable.

    Re: New Morph?
The breeder is not sure if its genetic or not he is still breeding the mom to see if anymore odd balls pop out. I am not buying him because he could be genetic thats just an addition. I am buying him because his patterning is AWESOME.
    Thanks, Jesse

Keep looking through those imports and find others like it to breed with. Even if it's a locality, better to continue the look and have it be your own. Kind of like those striped kingsnakes. Gorgeous animal, btw!
And I'm reading a lot of negative Nancys... geez. Let there be hope.

Very nice. Could be a harlequin (which is genetic).

Breed it and see what happens.
    Definitely worth getting IMO.
