Albino and something else..
Hi,
I bought an Albino a few months ago. I bought it as a 'normal Albino' however, I could see that there was more in it.
I was hoping that someone could tell me what else is in it. I have spent a lot of time looking on morph market and I still don't have any ideas.
Thanks

Re: Albino and something else..
Don't know enough about reticulated python morphs to be able to help sorry - but I will move it to the retic forum so the more knowledgeable people see it.
-
I do not see any additional genes in that retic.
It kind of looks more like an amel (albino) than a clark strain albino.
-
Am I the only one that doesn't think that head looks like a retic? I've never seen nose stripes like that on a retic, and the "muzzle" flares out a lot more than I've seen in retics. It looks more like a ball python, and the body shape also seems to resemble a bp. Plus, it has alien heads. Could this be a hybrid maybe?

it does seem very thick and short. The head didn't look that different to me but the alien heads are a bit off. It might be!

I thought the exact same thing. Maybe a burm if you squint with one eye but more like a bp than anything.

Yes, I was thinking possibly Burm, too, but those alien heads are bp, and the body shape just looks more like bp than Burm.

100% not a retic. There are additional pictures on OP’s profile page. It’s a funky looking albino for sure but pretty certain it’s a BP. Was posted in the BP forums earlier, why was it moved?
-
Strictly a guess, but could it be albino+yellow belly? Maybe pastel? It could be harder to find comparisons on mm because frequently young snakes are posted and some morphs can change significantly as they age. You could try adding the word "adult" to your morph guess when image searching. Just make sure you also have the words "ball python" in the searches as well or it could get interesting quickly...

It's a ball python not a retic!
That is why I put it on the ball python morph :)
Can someone put it back please

It's not a retic. How do I move it back?
Thanks

Thanks, I have put in adult but I can't find anything like him.
I will have another look.
For those saying burm he only weighs 1400g

You can't. I did it for you.

lol well butter my biscuit! I wondered why the first photo was labeled 'albino ball python', the last two photos angle and back pattern look retic, albiet the strangest one I had seen.
Not ashamed to be wrong just embarrassed

Honestly when I first looked I saw that yellow head and instantly thought retic but it was posted as a ball python so I looked a little closer and noticed more of a ball python type pattern but why are the colors so off for an albino ball python? I don't think I've ever seen a ball python like this. Where did you get it? What was it sold as? Is it possible it's a hybrid? Very interesting snake! If it is just a ball python, I would love to hear what morphs are causing it to have retic colors! Breed it to a normal and let us know what you get ;)

I can’t speak for anyone else but I was thinking more of a hybrid. Not a pure Burm. And only reason I was thinking that was a possibility was because of the weird patterns and because it was moved to the retic section. Burms do weigh 1,400 grams at some point though. LOL

Well I’ve seen BurmBall crosses but in this case maybe a ReticBall ??
Retic x Royal hybrid
Could be worth an absolute fortune to the right person

So I bought it off a want to be breeder who said she paid £500 for it a few years ago (which I thought was odd for a normal Albino). It was sold to me as just a Albino. I said that it doesn't look like a normal Albino and she said the reptile shop said it was a special type of Albino Ball Python but she couldn't remember any more details.
He is nearly 4 years old.
He weighs 1500g but looks like he needs to put on a bit of weight.
Aren't hybrids usually bigger?
I have paired him with my normal girl and she's in the process of building follicles.
I have not seen anything like him either. I have asked a few breeders in the UK and they don't have a clue.
I'm going to stare at his face for a while to see if I think there is any retic in him lol

I thought Retic as soon as I saw the yellow head and yellow colouration tbh

I'm guessing it's what's called a Yellow Head Albino. The head (obviously lol), the yellow or peach 'edging' around the pattern, and general high contrast look are all part of the trait. VPI had/has them, Ralph Davis had one, and I'm seen photos and videos of them in Europe.
Maybe it's one additional gene, but it's more likely to be a polygenic trait, as there appear to be different degrees of Yellow Head expression. They can get pretty cool looking. It is a BP trait, not something boosted from Retics :)
