Rescued a big coastal X ij today;-)
So Rescued this guy/girl today. Being kept in the same 3ft Viv since purchase 4yrs ago. That's no excuse for not cleaning it out tho, disgraceful behaviour by the previous owner. Even if your a little scared you still look after em surely!!!??
Either way hector my SD retic just was not growing into the 5*2*2 fast enough he's like a big corn snake at 2.5yrs old weighs 1000g. So carpet in the 5ft and hector in the 3'.
Ive been considering a large carpet for a while and I couldn't not help this one when she popped up.
Around 8ft and sweet as pie.
Owner didn't know the sex but I'm assuming female. Although the spurs are fairly large the tail looks female to me what you reckon? I know it's not for sure just opinions.https://i.imgur.com/MFVUY9h.jpg
Gotta name him/her we are leaning towards shrimp ATM Aussie reference lol.

Congrats on a fine looking Carpet! I’m glad you came along to give it a better home. I think you made a good decision putting it in the larger cage.

I have three 8 foot Coastals, 2 of them female. There is no way I can tell their genders just by looking. Maybe someone else can.

Hector rarely moved for days on end in the big tank. If he grows much more I'll buy a 4*2*2 which I believe will do him for life tbth.
I'm very happy with him/her. Yeah not sure how viable the side vent view method is on carpets, i.e how much the hemipenis bulge in the side view or even if tail length is much different.
Once settled I will get him/her probed so I know for sure.
For now it's called shrimp, fairly unisex and Australian lol.

How old are they? Thanks, she is a sweet heart too, already seems much happier. Watching us go by. Gonna let her settle for a week then try her with a small rabbit or large g pig.

If you want a big snake alot goes towards rescues, 4yrs old is still young and they have calmed down and got their adult temperament... So many need homes.
After all I got a Viv and the big ol' girl for £120 and an hour's Viv scrubbing.
