She'll be here Tuesday!!!!
I'm super stoked to announce that I can cross one species of my wishlist!!!
I will be receiving this beautiful girl from Casey Cannon at Cannon Fire Reptiles on Tuesday.
This will be my first time having an animal shipped, so I'm going to be an anxious mess once she ships, hahahaha!!! Hopefully I don't chew my fingernails down to the bone while waiting for her!!
I am excited to be venturing into morellia and learning from some of the fantastic morellia keepers here on the forum.
Bredli Carpet Python - ✓
I'll be getting to know her before deciding on a name, but her personality will tell me if she'll be named after Berta from "Two and a Half Men" or Lana from "Archer".

Apparently that's one vote for Berta!
I'm literally 50/50 on this one. In the past I always leaned a certain way when deciding on a name, but this one I'm perfectly centered on the fence. It's gonna come down to her personality. Time will tell...

Are you having it shipped to your house or will you have it shipped to a Fed-Ex facility and be picking it up directly from there. Because I think the picking it up at the facility works the best Imo. The last time I had one shipped that's what I did and it worked great. They had it sitting on the counter behind them. They knew it was a live animal.
I've heard some bad stories from folks on here who got house shipments (eventually.) I have a hard time trusting Fed-ex or UPS drivers. I'm lucky if they find my house at all. Ordered a gun clip one time never did get it. But said "delivered". Had to get my money from the shipper after raising some Cain.

Actually I'm just not familiar with the other one, & Berta cracks me up. I usually wait to "know" the snake before naming anyway, as you indicated.

Re: She'll be here Tuesday!!!!
She's really pretty. My bredli is around 2 years old and I love her. Pretty defensive as a hatchling but she's calmed down a lot with age and handling. She's very curious and moves a lot. Not at all like a bp. She just shed and now her eyes are kinda silvery rather than the normal brown. I love her.

Re: She'll be here Tuesday!!!!
Congratulations Craig! She's a pretty one! I know you've had your eyes and heart set on a Bredli fow a while. Casey Cannon produces some gorgeous Bredli too. I'm pretty sure you'll love the Morelia experience. They're still my favorite snake species.

Very cool! Congrats! Personally I vote for Lana

If you like Two and a half Men you'd like Archer. It's a very witty comedy. Pushes some boundaries, but hilarious.

I've got a pretty good idea what I'm getting into, I've handled a handful of carpets of various sizes. But never for more than a few minutes here and there. I'm so excited!!!

Thanks you my brother!!! I'm stoked!!!!
I'd heard nothing but good about Casey, and he was quick to reply, easy to talk to, answered all my questions...
And as an added bonus: I didn't even realize shipping was included in his price. Jackpot!! Hahaha!!
Honestly bro, your love for morellia was one of the advocations that made my decision so easy.
Something tells me if we didn't live 1,000 miles apart we'd be getting together for a weekend BBQ and checking out each other's critters!!!

Thanks!!! Now it's tied 1-1....Hahaha.
This one's gonna be tough. I'm probably gonna flip flop at least a dozen times. :confusd:

That's how you do it!
Excellent choice.

Hahaha! Thanks Gio!!! Now I've got to step up my photography game so I can steal some of your photo ideas!! Hahaha!! Seeing your carpets was another big check in the "pro" column. I just had to do it.
It was time to go bigger, but this is my one big girl. She'll definitely be the biggest I want to go. I feed on the conservative side, so it'll take a few years to get some good size on her, but we'll get there.
Im definitely fired up to step into morellia.

I am bit jealous I love bredli, nice pickup can't wait to see how it matures.

Re: She'll be here Tuesday!!!!
Mazel Tov! Sorry, I just saw this - was sick all weekend.
Awesome pickup buddy.
Carpet's are beautiful and inquisitive snakes. They are awesome eaters and fun to handle. Lots of fun, but they like food, and can be nippy when young (again no issues there with Yafe, although he will hiss occasionally when I go to pick him up). I encourage hook training with them.
Two things I've learned on my "carpet ride" with Yafe.
1. Carpet's can be sensitive to RI's.
Yes, Yafe came with one, probably because of fedex losing his package. However, in researching and working with Yafe for a while now, Carpet's seem more prone to it than other species who like decent humidity, but not crazy humidity. There have been a few times, either because of a bad shed, or random, or me being paranoid, that I've raised his temps and humidity for a few days to ensure he doesn't get another one/have it come back. I've also read and seen other instances where people have experienced RI's in Carpet's, especially in conjunction with stress.
2. I've heard, although Yafe had zero issues, that switching to rats from mice can be difficult. Try to do it ASAP when she is capable of taking them (I switched Yafe to rat pups when he able).
Again, congrats and keep us in the loop!

Congrats brother!!! You my man, have an amazing taste in snakes.
I've had my Bredli for almost a year (next month actually) and he's my second favorite of all my snakes.
So if you have any questions, just shoot me a PM. I'm not an expert, but I've learn so much with my Bredli and if I can help you out I'll be happy to.
Here's Kenny:

LOL, I posted a picture of my son with Kenny and MR Snakes asked if I was a 10 yr old kid and I think I replied "10 and 4 months".

Hahahhaha, a garage door is probably more practical???
Funny story...when I was 15 my mom let me drive for the first time... literally less than 100 yards down our quiet little road...in a standard...well, I pulled into the driveway and instead of hitting the clutch and brake I hit the gas and brake....bucked the car right through the garage door...that was over 25 years ago and my father still thinks my mother did it, hahahaha. She fell on that grenade for both of us!!

Hate to disappoint you Craig, but my garage door is just really old & worn out...I've never hit one yet.
You made me remember the old days though...I drove a stick shift too, for my first car, a Chevy Nova. I sure don't miss that...
BTW, your mom was pretty cool! Guess she wanted you to stay alive? ;)

Re: She'll be here Tuesday!!!!
SHE'S HEEEEEERE!!!!!! :D
She arrived just before 10:30, just as scheduled.
She's absolutely beautiful!!! Pics do her no justice at all. The pics Casey sent me are quality pics, but the camera just doesn't capture her beauty.
Here are a few unboxing pics. She was an absolute sweetheart out of the box, but grew tired of her photo shoot after a minute or two and started taking a few pops at me and the camera, hahaha!! It's just so darn adorable when they're that little!!! Once I picked her up to bring her to her enclosure she mellowed right out.
She's now in her quarantine enclosure settling in. I'll give her some time to acclimate and try feeding her in a few days.
I'd like to add that Casey Cannon of Cannon Fire Reptiles was fantastic through the entire process. This was my first time purchasing an animal and having it shipped. He made the process so easy. He was quick with his replies, answered all my questions and was very easy to talk to. I can't say enough good about Casey or the quality of the animals he produces.
Without further ado, here's the newest member of the family. She's a Lazik line Bredli, hatched out on July 8th. And I know I said it already, but pics honestly don't go her justice. She's a stunner!!!
Still going to get to know her before finalizing her name, but here's Lana/Berta...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a17d85648d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...73a724c3e6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3025ed7cb5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...987111d458.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...795e6e6c2a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dbe5e8891a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...10bc1f72c0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5e5f647402.jpg

Thank you my "young" friend!!
I'm actually considering buying a decent camera at some point. I love taking pics of my snakes, and other pets, but the cell phone cameras are only so good. I figure it may be worth spending a couple bucks and stepping up my photog hobby.
I'll definitely be starting a progression thread once she's settled.

Thank you my brother!!!
I am so excited to see her grow and develop her colors!!!
I'm starting her on mouse hoppers. That's what she's been taking so far. Casey suggested sticking to hoppers for now. So that's the plan. Once she outgrows the hoppers I'll likely switch her over to rats.
