Clutch #2 Just Crushed It
I only did two clutches this year. The second pairing was 1.0 Pied Ghost X 0.1 Dbl Het Pied Ghost. This was a first clutch for the girl so I was happy to get 6 viable eggs. I'm thrilled with the results because they just crushed the odds.
Out of the 6 eggs I hit:
4 Pied Ghost
1 Pied het Ghost
1 dbl het Pied Ghost.
Unfortunately they are taking forever to actually leave the eggs. As I type this it is about 37 hours since the first one pipped, only 2 have crawled out and one was the dbl het. Here is a pic of the first Pied Ghost. I'll post more when they are all out. Thanks for looking.

I made a similar pairing this season and unfortunately she was my only female that did not lay any eggs. ☹️
Pairing was a Pied Het Ghost X Ghost Het Pied. Oh well, maybe next year.

Second Pied Ghost crawled out and it too is lower white. I am loving the pattern on this little one. Really excited to see the rest. Stay tuned.

Here's the third Pied Ghost to climb out. This one has a little more balanced pattern. I don't expect the last two to crawl out until tomorrow but I'll put them up when they do.

Thanks Craig. One of my first clutches ever was a YB to a Normal. Out of 9 eggs I hit 1 YB. Perhaps this is just the universe evening things up.

I prefer the mediums too. My male is very evenly balanced. But I have to say the pattern on this one has me reconsidering.

Thanks Sonny. Now that I've seen the difference that Ghost makes with Pied, especially holding their color better as an adult, I can't see myself having Pied that doesn't have Ghost.

They are finally all out. Here's a pic of the whole gang. You can really see the difference in the Pied on the right that is not Ghost and the rest. The Ghost really brings them up a notch. I'll post some more pictures after they shed and I have sexed them, and hopefully in some better lighting. Unfortunately, this photo really washes out the color. I wanted to post some final pictures of this clutch. Two have not shed yet but I have sold two to a couple breeders who are taking them as they are, so I won't have a chance to take pics of them all shed together. Before anyone starts chastising me, these are seasoned breeders who know fully well what they are accepting and how to take it from there. I would never sell to the the average person without them having shed and taken at least three meals if not more. Now that we have that out of the way, here are the pictures.

Right? I was thinking the same thing when it first hatched. They usually just look like normal pied pattern that runs together.

Thank you. Yes, Hypo definitely makes things brighter even as an adult. The male that sired this clutch is still pretty bright compared to other adult pieds.
