Do you keep your snake sheds?
Time for another poll, I love making these as it is fun and I like to see all the different results of what everyone does. This one is about whether or not you keep your snake sheds.

I only have a few sheds, one from when Crowley was a baby, 1 from when he was half grown and 1 from his full grown size. I will only keep more if they are near perfect.

I've probably got around 20 or so. Every time one sheds I just hang it up on an old compound bow hanging on the wall. I think I only do it because it annoys my wife hahaha.

Sometimes. Occasionally I’ll take a shed periodically to get a rough idea of growth. It’s kinda cool to see a tiny and a giant shed from the same animal.

I have a few good ones, especially off of the bigger snakes. One off of my larger boas is a decoration in my office cube; it is longer than my coworkers are tall, because sheds stretch.

They are all convinced that I am nuts.

When the JCP gives me a clean shed, we hang it on the wall. I call it Snake Tinsel :D

I keep the first good shed from a new animal but not much else. However, I did see a picture of sheds used for a small Xmas tree’s garland that has inspired me to keep some for holiday decorating purposes

I keep my corn snake's - occasionally people ask me for snake shed, horse hair, horse shoes, etc. for craft projects or their altars, so I have a habit of holding onto everything I can from my animals just in case someone needs it someday. But the BP always poops in hers so those get thrown out.

My BP has only had 3 sheds with me so far, so I've kept all of them. They're all nice, full-piece ones which makes them a good record of my BP's growth. I noticed that my BP's younger skins are noticeably finer and softer than the older ones. Not sure if I will continue to keep them through his lifetime since that would be A LOT of sheds. Maybe just when he's still growing fast.

My entire family thinks it's creepy to keep the dead skin though LOL.

I typically just trash them. We recently found someone that makes soap from snake sheds. They had all the ball python sheds they could need but didn't have many other species. I filled a gallon ziplock bag with corns sheds in under a 2 week period for them.

I kept them all for years ( hundreds of them all in an old pillowcase !) but stopped a while back

A teacher friend of mine asked me to save one for her students so I keep a good one on hand, usually my dumerils boa since he sheds really nice and it has a cool pattern on it.

Surprisingly there seems to be a market for snake sheds. People are selling them on Etsy for crafts and whatnot.

I kept Adelita's first shed (it was darn-near perfect), but probably won't be keeping any others. Maybe a really nice shed when she reaches near-terminal size. I have an idea in my head of getting her first shed and an adult shed framed together for a cool comparison, but I'm not quite sure it that could be done.

I keep the good ones. The bigger the better. The local schools get most of them.

I keep a lot of the good ones, and any large pieces from bad ones.

Gives me a good supply of material so that I can pass them around when doing a presentation with the snakes :)

Often I'll do a draw for one of the intact sheds at the end. The kids love that :gj:
