    Help identifying bel complex hatchlings
    Hi everyone,

So we paired out Blue eyed Lucy to a Bumblebee Male this year and produced an interesting set of hatchlings.

Previously we believed the mum to be a super Lesser. This was based on what we produced last year when we paired her to the super fire Male and hatched 3 of what everyone agreed were Fire lessers at the time.

Interesting it would appear she is not a super Lesser but instead another combination.

I was hoping someone could help identify these babies and hopefully we can backtrack and identify what she is.

Two have not yet shed so I’ll add more pictures of them as soon as they have shed.

Thanks everyone in advance for the help!!! Based on this hatchling your female is likely a Lesser Mojave

What would you identify the hatchlings as?

You have a Mojave in this clutch so Deb is right.

I agree, I see Mojave in at least one of those. The last two kind of have me confused though because I'm not sure I see Mojave or lesser in those two so I'm interested to see what others ID them as.

I take that back, they could be Mojave pastel

Here is what I think they are:
    Lesser bee
    Pastave
    Spider
    Bumblebee
    Pastels

If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me lol

Beautiful hatchlings! Since one parent was a BEL, doesn't that mean every hatchling will be at least a butter/ Mojave?

Depends on what made the BEL...

I think you are misunderstanding her. She is observing that every hatchling must be one of the het BluEL morphs because the parent is a BluEL. In this case, since we are assuming the BluEL is Mojave/Lesser, every baby will have to be, at a minimum, either a Mojave and/or Lesser

I would agree but with mum being a BEL, and most are thinking Lesser Mojave) then all offspring must either be lesser or Mojave [emoji848]

True. Then this would probably be a more accurate guess:

    Lesser bee
    Pastave or lesser pastel
    Mojave spider
    Mojave bumblebee
    Pastaves

Only thing I think is weird is that the one I previous though to be a bumblebee does not look like it has either mojave or lesser in it, looks like a regular bee to me.

What I’m currently thinking is the following.

    - Queen Bee
    - Pastave
    - Spider Mojave (Spider lessers are very distinctive)
    - Pastave bee (Mojave Spider Pastel)
    - Pastel Lesser?????? ( really don’t think so because again Pastel lessers are very distinctive but the don’t look like Pastaves either)

This is where I’m beginning to think that perhaps she may not be a Lesser Mojave but then again like I said she produced 3 fire lessers (or so we still think they are) with a Super Fire last year. This guarantees at least Lesser is involved in her genetics but not sure of what else [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]

Again agreed. That one along with the last two seem to be bumblebees and pastels however that’s not possible if produced from a BEL.

This is mum in case it helps anyone at all with all of this [emoji29][emoji29]

    All depends on her....
This BEL came from a Pastel Lesser to a female Mojave....
Need a little more weight on her to prove out if she is a 2 gene or 3.....https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c42b2032b0.jpg

Dont have any recent photos at the time..

Maybe his bel has pastel in it?

Im in the same boat as you lol This is my bel, she came from a mojave x butter pastel clutch. I also need to prove her out to see if she's carrying the pastel trait. She should be ready to breed this fall hopefullyhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a6b7c6d8a6.jpg

I am inclined to agree with you. My guess is that your BluEL is more likely a Lesser/Russo or a Lesser/Mocha and the animal that people are calling a Mojave Pastel is actually just a lower expression Lesser Pastel

    So what you have is:

    QueenBee
    Russo (or Mocha) Bee
    Russo (or Mocha) Spider
    Lesser Pastel
    Pastel Russo (or Mocha)
